Why is my PC so slow - Can Norton Utilities tell me what has been going on in the Background for last hour?

Why is my PC so slow?

→ When I wake my PC up from Sleep mode, it takes a while for it to come back up and is doing stuff in the background for a longtime. I do not know what it is doing. For example:
* It takes forever to open up Apps I want to use.
* Or when I type text in an App, the text does not appear until a few moments later.

→ When I open Task Manager to see what is using up resources, it takes so long for task mgr to come up, the system is not as slow as it was.

I do have Norton Utilities.
Big Question:
Does Utilities have a reporting option that will allow me to find out what Apps or Processes were running in the past hour and how much of the CPU & how much memory that they used?

When I look in Task Mgr, I see that:
I have 8 Apps, 65 Background processes and 96 windows processes.
40% of CPU is used; 72 % of Memory; 7% of Disk.
→ But I do not think it is showing me every thing.

I did Anti-virus and Malware scans (even on start up) but do not show anything bad.

  • I have a Win 11 pc with 8 GB of memory where part of it is reserved for the Graphics.
  • I have Norton 360 and Malwarebytes (Premium) installed and running all the time.
    • But even if I shutdown the Malwarebytes, the PC can still be slow.
      Thanks

Hello Jeff. Do you periodically reboot the PC? Allowing sleep mode over a prolonged period causes issues with file and core OS corruption. Give this a go to see what results you get. FYI, DISABLE sleep mode before doing so. Also, if you have anything from Norton Utilities set to run with system boot also disable it.

No. Norton Utilities does not log what is running on your system. That would only slow the system down even more.

Try opening Task Manger before you try opening anything else after restarting the system. I have to do this on my Win 10 system to clear an issue where the CPU is pegged at 100% due to System Interrupts.

As you are running Norton 360 and Malwarebytes Premium, have you looked into any settings in both to reduce the chances of the two apps conflicting with each other? Many here are running both, but sometimes your specific system configuration can cause issues.
