Why Norton Trying to Defragmented SSD? I notice this happen today and never before. Last time it went super fast like nothing happen. I wanted to share this info here and hope it gets fix asap.
Drive C is my SSD NVMe and disk Fragmentation is 4% <- total bug on this for sure.
Here is screenshot of it as well.
The screenshot shows a defrag operation, not a trim. But if it went "super fast," that would most likely be a trim. Defrags take an eternity on a HDD, although I am not sure that would be true on a SSD. But peterweb is right, Norton calls the Windows Optimizer which should recognize the SSD.
Even if Norton is calling the defrag for your SSD drive, it is only calling the Windows defrag feature. Windows recognises SSDs and does not actually defrag, but calls the Optimization routines. On an SSD, these will only run a Trim command if necessary.
