Thanks Tony for the answers, I need to ask other doubts.
- Why this version is named Norton Ghost 2003 (using year 2003) and others is named norton ghost 9, norton ghost 10, norton ghost 12 and 14?
- How can I ceate a boot diskette or CD/DVD boot in order to recover an image .V2i?
Actually I have an image .V2i in a extrernal disk (usb disk) and want to recover it in a machine that has only one disk without operating System installed.
( In norton ghost 2003 i created a boot diskette, booted from it and executed the program ghost.exe from CD/DVD to recover an image .gho that was in a external disk.).

Hi betoco,
Let me try to answer these as best I can...
1) The naming of the Ghost consumer products back in 2003 was to use the year, but the version. That has been changed to align with the Enterprise product's use of the version number and not the year.
2) The CD that you purchased (or ISO that you bought online) is the Symantec Recovery Disk - a WinPE Boot Disk that you can use to restore images. If you have special hardware that you wish to use in the Recovery Environment, you may want to create a Custom Recovery Disk to access this hardware.
Keep in mind that recovering images from one machine to another may not work, since the image created for one machine is specific to that machine. Many drivers for the new machine may not be included in that image, and could cause system failure. Thanks!
Hello,
I´ll appreciate if you can indicate why using Norton Ghost 12 i cannot create or recover a image (with extension .gho) neiter I can create a boot diskette with ghost.exe.
I created using Norton Ghost 2003 a image name "backup.gho" of all my disk but when try to recover it using Norton Ghost 12 i can find the option to do this task.
What difference exist between Norton Ghost 12 and Norton Gost 2003?
Thanks a lot
mcc
There are many differences between Norton Ghost 12 and Norton Ghost 2003, one of which is that Norton Ghost 12 does not support the .gho files. Beginning with Norton Ghost 9, we have been using the .V2i file name for Norton Ghost images, and supported the recovery of Norton Ghost 2003 images in both Norton Ghost 9 and Norton Ghost 10. However, we no longer support the restoring of .GHO files with Norton Ghost 12 and Norton Ghost 14 versions. I apologize for this inconvenience; please let me know if you have any other concerns about these products.
