I've had this "System Restore" (SR) problem a lot over the last several years (as I've had a lot of computer problems -- seeminlgy "security" related).
SR worked for a while, recenlty (last several months). Now, not (reliably) working again. Sometimes does -- most times not.

I'm aware of the issue with SR, regarding NIS "Norton Product Tamper Protection" settings. I've always turned this OFF when I create a SR point -- and when I do a SR recovery from such a point.
Lately, that doesn't seem to work.
Some have suggested running SR in "Safe Mode." Should I try that? For both the created and restore?
Also, I read here that one should do a "Live Update" after a System Restore. Is that when one is created? Or used? Or, both? And,why?
