Per a Microsoft MVP the installation of NIS 2011 on my Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit machine has or is interfering with the installation of an assembly, resulting in this error when I try to install SP-1: ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING(0x80073701).
I can get around this by enabling the hidden W7 Administrative account and disabling NIS 2011, all while the Ethernet cable is literally unplugged from the machine.
Unfortunately, NIS 2011 is tenacious (for which I am generally grateful), and will not allow itself to be disabled, even with the highest privileges allowed on the machine and using msconfig.exe or services.msc.
Is there some way to disable NIS 2011 temporarily? I promise I will be careful by specifically having the machine disconnected from the internet while installing SP-1, the corrective file and SP-1 file I have downloaded and stored locally!
I think my only other option is to uninstall NIS 2011 completely, install SP-1 and then reinstall NIS 2011.
Other suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.
