Windows 11 Update 24H2 and 25H2 - experience

Not really a question, more my experience with updating to 24H2 and 25H2 in Windows 11.

I have five computers, two of which have RAID 1-based drives that require special drivers to function. I was unable to update these two devices to 24H2 or 25H2; after the update, the device always encountered a blue screen and the system processed back to the previous version, fortunately automatically and without further issue.
After staying on 23H2 for a long time and doing intensive research, I came across a tip that any AntiVirus software shall be deinstalled. So I uninstalled Norton 360 on the not so important Computer, and what a surprise, now the updates 24H2 and 25H2 could be installed without any further problem. Afterwards, I reinstalled Norton 360, and everything is OK so far. Done the same on the other more important system, same result.

That said, it’s a bit disappointing to have to uninstall Norton on certain devices before a major Windows update can be installed properly, especially since you a lot of research has to be done before find a useful tip can be found.

Oh, and while we’re at it, could you please stop with the pop-up spam!!! It’s really annoying, and I’m seriously considering not renewing my Norton 360 license when it expires next time.

It has always been recommended to uninstall antivirus software, including Norton, as you found in your research. So it is not just a Norton issue.

It probably has something to do with how deeply embedded into the OS that antivirus software gets installed.

The RAID drivers is the issue. I’m not even sure Norton supports that mode of operation like it did in the older versions. Norton would be looking for a single boot drive vice an array of drives built upon redundancy. JBOD might pass muster though. Haven’t used those devices in ages to know yes or no though.
