Receiving notices that there is a new Windows update, 2004 available. Has anyone tried the new update yet? It seems that with new updates, there are problems that should have been taken care of before the send out.
You stay safe as well ITMA!!

Not a great user of the WWW. I use my x4 machines for 'brain food'. No not gaming. Just an interest in the data & tech.
Over the current lifespan of W10 2004, I've loaded it onto my x3 machines in a phased manner.
Early-doors. Home 32. No problems with my peripherals, hardware & software. ALL GOOD !
Interim. Pro 64. ALL GOOD !
Current. Home 64. ALL GOOD !
I passively follow 'AskWoody' with some reserve. Especially, when 'zero-days' are flying around.
It would be nice to know the percent of people (non-tech, ordinary domestic users) who have let their machines 'auto-update', as and when, and haven't spotted any problems, ever. They're probably in the majority ?
I follow, AskWoody, BLEEPING COMPUTER, gHacks, KrebsonSecurity, and of course Norton Forums. That's enough sites, to give an indication of a major bunch of 'snot'ware, doing the grand tour.
The bottom line is: eventually MS are going to withdraw your version of the OS. Don't leave it to the last minute to take the plunge, to the current version. It could be the worse version ?
Y'all keep safe out there.

SoulAsylum:I haven't had any issues other than Windows attempting to defrag an NON-SSD HD and perform re-trim on it when it shouldn't. The latest update DOES NOT fix that issue,
Every time I start to waver and consider installing the latest feature update, somebody like you posts something like this.
The AMD machines didn't like having a USB backup device attached when installing the update and even attempted to boot to it although its not in the boot menu. I would disconnect any USB storage you have attached prior to updating.
Thanks -- I have just that!

And the Update is downloaded and on hold until 9/20 .....
Oh and I jusr backed up the C: SSD Drive with Macrium Reflect "in case" prior to a Qulity Update that self-installed ....
So I'll back up again prior to the major update.
So thanks again for thinking of us others.

From HP Basic to Windows 10 without hitting too many trees ....
Hello. The feature update to Windows 10 2004 is a couple of months old now. The "current" patching scenario for September is being reported as quite buggy for some users. Woody Leonard has posted an article about what is being reported at this site. I have personally updated all my machines to 2004, they are a mix of AMD and Intel powered. The AMD machines didn't like having a USB backup device attached when installing the update and even attempted to boot to it although its not in the boot menu. I would disconnect any USB storage you have attached prior to updating. I would also disable the Norton Firewall and Autoprotect as it CAN cause issues with the install. Since updating I haven't had any issues other than Windows attempting to defrag an NON-SSD HD and perform re-trim on it when it shouldn't. The latest update DOES NOT fix that issue, I have reported same to MS through the feedback hub. Keep in mind, your mileage may vary depending on your hardware and the drivers associated with it. Make a backup of your current install as a safety net before updating.
