Upon booting up my pc today I noticed a message in my Win 7 Action Center that's asking "Do you want to run this program?" and points to C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.5.0.125\WSCStub.exe. When I clicked on Yes, it opens NIS, but the message remains in the Action Center. Anybody know what's going on here? I have NIS 2011 version 18.5.0.125 and it doesn't show any problems.
Actually, I found the solution in a different thread. http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Windows-7-Action-Center/m-p/174390?query.id=726507]here[/url].
Turns out that if I open the Action Center, it shows that NIS is turned off even though it isn't. Unregistering and re-registering WMIUTILS.DLL fixed the problem for me.
That is exactly the situation, Think it installed the service pack yesterday, and woke up with it finding a virus in the night, and this morning the WSCStub notification.
