So I've been running windows 7 RTM for almost a month with no problems, in the last week i've started getting BSODs from IDSvia64.sys, which is part of the NAV 2009 package.I have been running windows 7 RC1 prior to this for months with no problems, it just seems in the last week or so NAV has been giving me issues, first the systray icon dissapears after an update and now the BSOD.
I have attached several minidumps to the post to help you identify the problem. I hope you can help me resolve this quickly as this is my main development machine and I need it to be rock solid.

I got the tray icon fixed using that method earlier this week, its the BSODs that are a pain in my **bleep**...
My machine is rock stable hardware wise: linpack / prime95 / vantage / games... The BSOD is also not very reproduceable, it seems that it occurs if i leave the machine idle for a while.
Only an idle thought but have you tried using NIS/NAV 2010 rather than NAV 2009 for a wee while. If you download the trial package you can run it for up to 15 days and then if OK you can activate NAV 2010 with your current product key.
NIS/NAV 2010 starts a lot of its "behind the scenes stuff when the system goes idle.
didnt know there was a new version out… will try it out and hope my blue screens go away. I would still like an official response as to whether this is a known issue or just a random thing…

It is not, as far as I know, listed anywhere as a "known issue". There are occasional random happenings of things, as you well know, than can sometimes defy logical explanation and get fixed via trial and error or, in this case, trial and further trial.
I'm pretty sure this issue got introduced with an update (probably the windows 7 compatibility patch), since prior to then my machine was rock solid, i've moved over to NAV 2010, and so far I havent had any BSODs, holding thumbs that it stays that way.
I was super impressed with NAV 2k9, honestly prior to it i would have avoided and warned people from using any norton product. I was a NOD32 user for years until the NOD 4.0 fiasco put me off it, and so i cancelled my subscription and moved over to NAV, now if the BSODs continue (which i hope they dont), I may move back and recommend all the dev's under me also switch back to NOD.
Glad that the 2010 version seems to have cleared the issue for you. Let's hope it stays that way.

I've got a licence for Norton 2009 Gaming Edition.
Is there a 2K10 edition of this version of Norton ?
Not that I am currently aware of.
Is my key valid for norton traditionnal version ?
I shouldn't think so as it is a different product.
You could try downloading and installing the NIS 2010 Trial version which is good for 30 days and if that cures your problem then perhaps you would wish to purchase a copy via the Symantec Store.
Coldon wrote: well i've only been on nav2010 for a day or so, so i'm not ready to say that my problem is solved, i'll report back in a few days on how it goes...
Hi coldon,
Sorry, I wasn't meaning for you to do that straight away - just when you feel that your issue is actually resolved. Thanks.
If any of you are stilling having the BSOD problems, are you willing to share some environment information with us? That information will go a long way in any defects we may have there.

The 2010 Gaming Edition is planned to be released sometime around the end of the year.

Your product key is valid for GE edition and also the retail version. Since you are not expired yet, I suggest that you wait for the new 2010 gaming edition to be released and upgrade to it.
Sorry, I'm french and my english is a bit approximate.
@mdturner : What i'm trying to say is that my licence expires in 94 days so I don't want to lose it and install a trial version for 30 days. I just want my NAV works :p
@ weil : thanks for informations (waht do you mean by retail version ?, retail version of GE or traditionnal NAV version ?).
@ Ameya: I'm totally OK to share datas than can help. It's why I asked "I thing there's a new bug, how can I help to solve it ?"
