Windows 7 spooler blocked by NIS

Hello, I have an strange problem.

Two similar PCs, both with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits edition SP1 installed. Both have a printer installed and are network connected, acting one of them as client and the other as server.

Both have NIS installed, Client has N.I.S. 2010, Server has N.I.S. 2014, version 20.0.4.40

Both printers are defined as shared over the network and both PCs have access to its own printer and the other (remote one).

Client is able to print as many files as wished in both its local printer as in the shared (server) one

Server is able to print as many files as wished in the remote (client) one

BUT when being in the server we want to print in the local attached printer, the first file is printed OK, and the following ones seems to be blocked in the spooler queue. The printer seems to receive some signal from the server (some noise is heared), but nothing is printed.

The spooler service is active, if we stop and restart it, all the printer queue is printed, but the following on file is not, it remains in the printer queue forever till the spooler is again stopped/started or the full server is reinitiated.

Why I put and ask this message in a Norton forum? Because if the N.I.S. is unistalled, everything works OK. Printer has been updated at the latest level of software, firmware and driver. Even more, it has been unistalled and reinstalled. Same result.

Any idea of help?

Thanks and kind regards.

Hi, Dick, thanks for your fast answer.

But I cannot understand your question. Could you guide me in the steps to find an answer to it?

Additionally, remember that the printing of the second and following files is only failing when this printer is addressed as local (USB connected). When the remote (client) PC tries to print on it as remote (server connected) printer it works perfectly.

Again, spooler only seems to be blocked when one tries to print more than one files to the local (USB) printer.

Thanks again and kind regards.

Are you saying the server has problems printing more than one page to it's own USB connected printer?

Second computer can print to it's own local connected printer fine.

Both computers can print over the network to the other printers fine.

If the first question is correct, go to the server and right click on the Norton icon in the system tray and select "disable smart firewall" choose 15 minutes.

Does it somehow print multiple pages to it's own local printer now?

Sorry if I misunderstood

Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for your answer (and questions)

My answer: Not exactly... :

"the server has problems printing more than one page to it's own USB connected printer?": NO

The server has problems printing more than one FILE to its own USB connected printer: YES, if we leave some second between the printing of the first one and the following ones, the second and following ones remain in the spooler queue.

Second computer can print to it's own local connected printer fine. YES

Both computers can print over the network to the other printers fine. YES

"If the first question is correct, go to the server and right click on the Norton icon in the system tray and select "disable smart firewall" choose 15 minutes."

I already did it, and also with the antoivirus protection... same result, first fiule, printed, following, blocked.

Thanks and regards.

Correction to my first post:

N.I.S. version is: 21.1.0.18

No further idea that could help?

Should I uninstall N.I.S. and look for another product?
