I am unable to install the Comcast Norton Security Suite on a brand new laptop running Windows 8.1.
The error message I get is: A problem has occurred that needs your attention: Norton Security Suite will not install in compatibility mode. I have confirmed that the setup and NC4 file is NOT in compatibily mode.
You need to set some Internet security so windows defender and windows firewall and then get up dates and recheck for updates until there are no more updates restarting as requested. If you have windows 7 or above then Norton will manage the windows security automatically if its windows vista or below then check to see if you need to manually disable windows defender and windows firewall after installing Norton.
Have you removed the trial or any other security software on the computer? If you had a different Norton product on the computer so NAV or NIS (or any trial Norton product) the below process should be performed. you’ll need to backup or export in both formats your identity safe and any other users identity safe if it is used, before doing the above.
Use the process below to remove your previous security programme. You’ll need to download and save the removal tool from the security software’s main website or use the singularlabs website on the link below and choose from the list.
You can stay with windows security and only go to websites that you know are safe until v21.1 is released by Comcast NSS.
The free 30 day trial of Norton 360 is v21.1 which is compatible with windows 8.1, and is available at the top of this page on the drop down menu from the downloads button it is available where I am but check at the bottom of the screen for v21.1 where a window opens after clicking the download button that has save or run options. If you do this uninstall constant guard and restart the computer then use the process in post 2 of this thread to remove Comcast NSS.
Then you’ll need to go through the process in post 2 of this thread to remove the trial version of Norton 360 before installing Comcast NSS when v21.1 becomes available
