My PC is running on Windows 8.1 with Media Centre and NIS (21.1.0.18)
Lately Windows 8.1 released new updates (check image) to my surprise after updating, my PC stopped booting. And when it booted after long wait I was unable to work at all as my Booting Drive is locked. I juggled for 3 long days and conclude that Latest Windows 8.1 updates are not compatible with NIS.
I disabled Windows updates and now my PC is working fine with NIS fully updated. Please help to resolve this issue.
I'm not sure NIS is the issue. I am responsible for about 20 computers at work and 1 of them is having this issue. None of the rest of them are. We're not running NIS on any of them. It likely is a compatibility issue, but with what I have not yet identified.
@richfed May I please request to confirm if both of them are fully updated till date? And yet there is no issue. Because if so, I must be more worried.
Otherwise, my PC basic specs are as under (chek pic)
I have 3 Windows 8.1 systems here, all updated with the latest WU's, including the optional Update Rollup Package update : KB2919394. This Update Rollup Package update solves a lot of problems with Win 8.1.
Afterwards I would advise you to instal the updates one by one and see with which update your problem arises.
Make an own restore point before each update. If you have to restore, remember to switch off Norton Tamper protection before.
If you need more help, please be as specific about your problem as possible: f.i. did your system not boot at all, is it stuck in startup with black screen or, or.....??
@hvgsel I will try as you suggested and get back with rsults. I have already updated to 21.1.1.7. Otherwise, earlier my PC was not booting 99% of times and when it does I was not able to work at all. Let me try with Norton Tamper protection off as I never did it earlier. Thanks for your suggestions. I wish it will be life saver for me.
@richfed Thanks you for prompt confirmation. I appriciate all your efforts and pain for helping me out.
@Rainbow_2 Yes NIS 21.1.1.7 update done the job.
@hvgsel Updated to NIS 21.1.1.7 and than updated windows without switching off any security. I am not sure but it seems NIS 21.1.1.7 update done the trick.
Once again I appriciate and thank everyone for taking pain for supporting me to resolve the issue :)
