Windows 8.1: Norton Internet Security Scan Not Working

Hello,

I have NIS (Version: 21.1.0.18) Running on Windows 8.1.

I cannot perform any type of scan at all. When I click on quick scan, full system scan etc., nothing happens! I've tried to run it with Administrative privileges but the issue stays the same

I have had this issue before and ultimately I had to remove NIS and reinstall it which takes some time! Is there another way to resolve this issue?

The antivirus is up-to-date

Thank you,

Rayan

Thank you Rainbow_2, that fixed the issue. But I'm still wondering why it keeps happening from time to time :(

Do you have any idea why it happens?

Thanks again!! <--- intentionally bold ;)

Hi khyal2008,

First I am glad you got your situation solved, although my curiosity is raised.

I have seen other situations solved over the past few days by updating to 21.1.1.7 and I am not totally convinced that the update itself (basically because the update does not fix anything I can see that is tied to scanning) is what cured the situation as the update is basically a full reinstall (very similar to using the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool).  Like you I am curious why the scan stops working from time to time.

I have seen posts in the past where a reinstall will get the scans working, only to have them fail at a later date - in some cases only a few days to a week later.  In these cases, there was no update (just a reinstall) that fixed it temporarily. So that's why I question in this case iof the update or the reinstall fixed the situation.

If you encounter the scan not working again, please let us know.
