I'm using an acer laptop (somehow connected with norton), so I had a norton ultra free trial that came with it. But it was supposed to be expired a long time ago (using norton 360 nowadays). But after resetting my laptop this time (never happened in the past), norton ultra somehow came back... (the subscription resets whenever I reset my pc now, gets another that expires in a month starting from the reset, deleting those is a pain too) And I can't access windows security anymore, it always shows a blank screen. Only when I go to certain places such as virus & threats protection, it would show a window that says my IT admin has limited access to some areas of the app.
I'm guessing it has to do with norton, since I can still modify my windows security with norton ultra or norton 360(when all other methods failed, or maybe norton is simply that overpowered?) and this appeared together with norton ultra. But I still can't go into windows security even after uninstalling norton ultra or replacing it with norton 360. Also tried various methods online but nothing seems to work.
I actually just need to disable hvci(memory integrity) to play a certain game(my main game, so really hurts to miss even a few days), and uhh it's fine if I can't access windows security, a way to disable memory integrity using norton also works. And hopefully they just make the norton ultra expire instead of making me pay, since I still got norton 360(didnt bother change to it in this reset yet). Please help me, dear netizens!!! T_T
Hi, I just tried your suggestions and I uninstalled norton again using their official remove app, also tried to uninstall remnants from files directly, didn't find anything (except the installer in downloads), so I simply wrote norton in the search section to search for everything with the name Norton, found something that I couldn't delete (need administrative power...I should be one tho, at least I'm sure I'm the only user of my laptop).
A while later a pop up suddenly appeared saying my norton ultra isnt up to date. I went to check my files and realized a bunch of new files or folders that includes the name norton appeared. Some could be deleted, some couldn't(lacked admin rights) and some says it doesn't exist in that place (Maybe I already deleted it or something). Well as I'm writing I went to check again, and I see only a norton security file folder that just spawned and can't be deleted (without admin), the other random files disappeared. T_T
Well, from this distance. Looking at your pics. I'm thinking your File Explorer is not showing Hidden items. I'm thinking your Norton is still installed.

The zip linked to the message just screenshots of my access getting denied when I tried to delete it so it's not really important if you don't want to check, for some reason I can't send it as png.
3) check Windows Task Scheduler for any Norton related tasks...for example: Norton 360, Remediation.
Delete Norton related tasks.
