Hi,
The above has occurred twice in the past week or so and I'm obviouly wondering if someone or something has got into my system somehow, although NIS2013 informs me that it is 'clean'.
I keep my signatures up to date.
Is there something obnoxious going around at the present time that would do that, and should I be concerned?
Has anyone else had the same experience?
Thanks.

Hi,
Anything going around? Just thousands of new threats daily, otherwise all is calm as usual.
NIS has a Smart Firewall and XP has a firewall. Only one of them can be operating when they are both present. The better one is the Norton Smart Firewall. This means that the windows firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials should be off/disabled. In fact MSE should be uninstalled to keep things from conflicting. NIS will disable those parts of Windows Defender that are a problem but the remainder of the program is still used by the OS.
Keep us posted
