Winfax Pro 10 & Windows XP pro

I have been using Winfax Pro 10 in Windows XP pro for a few years with out any problems. I upgraded Window to service pack 3 and also upgraded to IE 7 and Winfax stopped working correctly. I could still send faxes to numbers in my phone book and receive faxes, but as soon as I went to enter a new phone number, Winfax would shut down. I have tried to install Winfax on another computer with IE 7 and service pack 3. The install goes smoothly untill I have to enter phone numbers, then Winfax shuts down. Does anyone out there know of a fix for this? At the same time my HP scanner software stopped working but HP came out with a patch to fix the problem.

Hi Tubby,

Winfax is an unsupported and discontinued product from Symantec. However, the Knowledge Base articles for Winfax are still available and you can find them by searching in Symantec main page as well.

I am not sure which version of Winfax Pro 10(10.0/10.01/10.02/10.03/10.04) are you using. According to this Symantec Support Article, Winfax Pro 10.0/10.01 is not supported/compatible on Windows XP. It doesn't mean that Winfax Pro 10.0/10.01 would not have worked, but could mean you might (sooner or later) run into issues. If you are using the old version of Winfax Pro, try to update to the latest version- Winfax Pro 10.04 although it won't have fixes for SP3 changes. Check this LINK for more information. Otherwise, uninstall Service Pack 3 and be happy with Service Pack 2 itself since you didn't had any other issues with Service Pack 2.
