Hello there. I have a question about WMIPRVSE.EXE. After researching about it I figured that it's a part of Windows, but how come my Norton IS 2010 keeps blocking it? Everytime I check my history there are at least 10+ blocks every minute or so. It always has a severity of medium and here are some more details of it. I find this to be very annoying and irratating.
Date: Like 10+ times every minute or so
Actor: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM\WMIPRVSE.EXE
Target: C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine\17.7.0.12\ccsvchst.exe
Reaction: Unauthorized access blocked.
I am now starting to suspect that it's now some type of malware-infected program or is this some false positive? If someone could help me I would greatly appreciated, thank you. I will give more info if asked upon.

So this would be completely normal SendOfJive and nothing to worry about? If so, thank you for your contribution and help towards answering my problem.
This is also part of an explanation from Wilders Security about a very similar issue.
Also, some users will never have witnessed the WMIPRVSE service running on their Windows XP/2003 PC, and then notice it running one day and every day thereafter : this is also normal and will in most cases be the result of some software having been installed (and installing WMI provider services) or the result of a Windows Update.
Ahhh thank you very much! I knew it also had something to do with the Windows Update I got like a day earlier before I started witnessing this going on with my Norton IS 2010. I didn't know what was going on and now I do! Thanks for your help delphinium! You and SendOfJive have been very helpful answering me questions!
