World’s fastest car now even faster

The Hennessey Venom GT just got even faster

The beast of an engine.

NOT content with it being the world’s fastest car, American car company Hennessey has upgraded their Venom GT to somehow become even faster.

The huge 7.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 still remains, but Hennessey has upgraded it to allow the engine to take advantage of E85 fuel, the same petrol used by V8 Supercars. The turbos’ boost pressure has also increased from 19 psi to 26 psi to help give it more power.

The result? A power jump of 154kW, going from an already ludicrous 928kW to an insane 1082kW. It’s even more impressive when you remember that due to the car being based on a Lotus Exige, it weighs just 1244 kilograms.

Its speed hasn’t been independently tested yet, but Hennessey claims that the car is capable of going from 0-97km/h in 2.4 seconds, a top speed of over 450km/h and a quarter-mile sprint of just 9.4 seconds.

The new engine is now standard on the $1.7 million Venom GT, which is nearing the end of its 29-unit run.

But don’t think for a split-second that even this new engine leaves Hennessey satisfied.

The company is currently working on its next-generation hypercar, dubbed the Venom F5 — as in F5 on the Fujita scale, which is expected to arrive in 2016 with a top speed in excess of 465km/h and a 0-100km/h time as fast as a Formula 1 car.

Wow!
