Xbox 360 Live

My son wants an XBox  360 live to play COD Modern Warfare 2 online. As of right now I have a desktop computer with DSL modem and  a Netgear wireless Router for the laptop computer.

One computer has NIS 2009 and the other has NIS 2010. I haven't updated the NIS 2009 computer because we never use it and I only turn it on once a month to get the microsoft updates and other updates (adobe, java, etc)

My question is, can viruses and trojans be downloaded to an xbox while my son is on online mode, or to my other computers from the xbox if they are on the same wireless network at the same time.  Do I need some kind of Norton security for the Xbox is my real question.

Thanks,

 Kevin

[edit: Clarified subject to reflect issue.]

does anybody have any info on my question?

Thanks, kevin

I suppose really this is not a Norton issue and perhaps you need to ask Xbox forum how the xbox is protected from malware when it is connected to internet. There is no NIS/NAV product specific for xbox.So sorry. You can stay tuned and perhaps someone who has knowledge of Xbox can answer you.

Maybe ask a Mod to put this in the tech outpost section where it can be discussed? I am not a gamer so can't help but would also be interested in the answer. There are usually gamers on this forum....don't know how to attract their attention:smileywink:

Just talking to a sons friend who uses XBOX LIVE,the XBOX plugs into your modem so in my thoughts it's it own sealed internet connection like a HTTPS or XBOX to it's own website and only using your connection (this is my surmising)

Apparently you can not get a virus through XBOX but your account may be hacked. It has parental controls to determine how long the child can play for etc.My thought would be to have a look set it up set a time limit to play, maybe set the other 2 computers to Restricted in Norton network section.

You can also restrict who you play against . Well this is teenage gleaned info so take it how it's written ..Unknown,untried....LOL

May be someone who has done it will answer in the meantime.
