Ok first of all I made the title simple so others can find it easily.
I am using Windows XP Service pack 3 32 bit and am not sure if this issue is the same for all operating systems and what programs are being used.
Today I uninstalled Mcafee IS 09 due to it not doing much to deal with threats.
I installed NIS 2009 and updated to 16.5.0.135 and was having issues with when I right clicked a folder it crashed Explorer.
I am unsure if the issue was there before I updated as I like to update thoroughly before getting on with things.
I did a little digging around the net and found this site with similar issues that seemed to be similar but not that same set up and same issues exactly.
I spoke to one of the staff using the live chat window and allowed him to use remote assistance to see the issue for himself.
Unfortunately the issue wasnt resolved but we finished the chat by agreeing that he will make the issue the top priority for fixing and I would happily help with Nortons seeing if the issue is fixed on my PC via remote assistance.
I am asking for help with wittling down to the exact issue and helping Nortons find the problem to rid us all of this nasty bug.
I am not using Vista or PowerDesk and not everybody knows what PowerDesk is including me, that is why I made this thread.
Also the problem may affect different people in different ways but it all seems to revolve around a right click of a folder issue.
I have used shellexview but couldnt find anything out of the ordinary (apart from the fact disabling things doesnt seem to work).
I have confidence it is an annoyance that will be fixed soon but in the mean time anyone with this issue should know they arent alone.
This thread is for people who found ways to fix it, offer suggestions and indeed the final fix resulting in a locked topic and joy to the world.
Please note that I dont find it necessary to start installing lots of complicated programs when the issue lies with the Norton product itself most probably in the latest updates going by what others have said.
Also by what others seem to suspect it has something to do with a folder shell extention issue which does seem logical.
