Is this problem ever going to be fixed, it's now over 8 months.
saying ignore the message and it runs ok is incorrect, it won't run scheduled.
Getting thoroughly fed up now, considering not renewing my security and leaving Norton completely.
If I do I know several people who take advice from me and will follow.
Hey there Peter-but obvious the Gurus were trying. And thanks to you Peter...much appreciated-seriously cool-just sorry there are deaf ears at Norton. I cannot even imagine being a Norton leader and reading this history from many paying consumers and even the same repeating resolve to our inquiry that does not address this correctly...amazing...just amazing...
The last few years, the fix was out in a few days at most. Even the gurus here cannot get an answer from our contacts.
Worse than that, its very easy just to say it will not be done as to just simply respond-that's all. No business I know of is so behind (7 months) that they simply cannot get to the forums and do their job to address customer inquiries, questions and concerns in the correct manner. (Unless), there is a fix taking time based on priority or they intentionally are waiting for this forum to quiet down/drop off with a % of us buying the current premium version of this product and moving on with our lives.
So... putting my two cents worth in again. Can anyone still believe that after being Symantec and then Norton customers over like 25 years, we are treated like absolute garbage? Unbelievable

Hello Master_Yoda, Welcome to the band of the Neglected ! I am sorry to say that yes we are Neglected by Support and by Management with false Truths. Hmmmmm something reminds of someone that, ahhh nah could not be.
Anyway Your Error will not go away, it needs a patch that Norton_laughalock refuses to acknowledge the need of one. Do Please try again later just to pester the servers and am sure it is counted somewhere. Unfortunately the Force is not yet strong enough to break the uncompromising will of the unseen.
I have had 3 I think of these I have gone through and this is the only time that I have ever been so badly treated by Support with the change of management that does not care that we the purchasers have been rudely neglected by them and given false information.
Do hang around as you have the right to express how you feel about over 6mos of NO SUPPORT nor Proper Information.

Also, when I attempt to run Smart Update as recommended by the pop-up, I receive an error that reads "Notice! Smart Update Failed Error downloading the list of updates. Please try again later." (image attached) No matter how much later I try, I still get the same Smart Update Error.
Yea-I have the Utilities Premium as was originally curious as to if that prior upgraded version was just as good. I do not think I will renew it and interesting to note, Norton released an update for it a few weeks ago. My suspicion is that Norton looks at our concern group maybe 20-25 people verses the volume of customers as a whole and does not think worth the time and effort to patch a product and can afford any minimal product/consumer loss. However, its sad and really takes little effort at all to just release a small note to advise there will be no patch to this program. At least then, we know and can move on. Again, this is a sad experience. I'm out..be safe all..

Everyone knows what the solution is and that is for NortonLifeLock to take ownership of the product problem and to fix it as it has been fixed previously with a patch.

You know how they get when you miss the day !
They cut you off, do not speak to you, hum and hah with unrealistic expectations and 1/2 answers to your questions, provided they answer them at all.
They take you off their product page in your account, it's like their sticking their hand in your pocket and robbing you with no regrets or reasons why, or moral obligation.
This is so much a uneasy marriage, it's not even convenient and it is getting messy !

I don't know what was the result here but in addition to this error message I noticed something I had not before. The performance screen summary section shows my last disk defrag as of 10/06/2018. Should be 06/09/2020. I kept wondering why my system health was always low. So is it really doing anything or not reporting correctly.

Hi, Welcome to the Nightmare and discussion of NU16 and it's Product Support, Service and Information Responsibility. Great to have you join the bewildered and dispirited and to bring along moral support with that brings some thoughts.
As you have/all of us have noticed the defining terms above are lacking with the new Norton Laughilock Management Team. Yes we bare no ill will to the messenger that has been asked to relay untruthful information. Nor anything useful that would have us all feel like we have been heard and listened too. This how ever does not mitigate or absolve the higher ups of gross mismanagement and communication relating to a Flag Ship Product that is sorely lacking here.

For Norton Management, As the administrator for Norton "Gayathri-R" have been with you since 2011, I assume he is dictated to generate the answer given here on 19-May-2020. The answer is clearly not to the tune of what earlier Norton customer is use to or/and expect from Norton. (My assumption build upon that in 2011 Norton was still very respectable, so the administrator here know this. But if he/she is dictated from higher ups, its understandable that he/she have to do so. For which reason he probably is not the one to blame.) As a many years Norton customer, this story with NU-16 will imply that we feel we are at the end of maintaining our trust in Norton. And for your information I have knowledge about many other old Norton customer who silently have been following this tread, who now, because of the total abandum of normal Norton service, is looking for alternative supplier than Norton. Remember "a small stone can cripple a big car", well knowing "NU16 is a small stone" in your business. If you wish to salvage what you already have lost, you better do it very fast.
