Hi, is anything going to be done about this issue ?  Beyond what you have suggested as the fix, to click it away ?   Some very disgruntled people and some very mad that they have cancelled.  I am also angry with this issue as the it is a known problem and has been fixed multiple times before that it would not take long to fix it again.   There has never been any notification of end of life nor any info telling us there was a new version (while we are still running this on WIn10). Since this thread started NU16 has mysteriously appeared in our Accounts when for years has never been there.  Some info regarding this would be great also.  The consensus of this thread is that as customers we are being treated wrongly.

NOTE : I just found a link saying compatible with Win10 ( https://community.norton.com/en/forums/nu-160239-compatible-win10 ) with no other info given out and this also took place with the same error at the same time.

Maybe we all need to hit their Facebook page with complaints to give wider visibility of the issue.

As a long term Norton user, with the lack of response to this issue and what appears to be compulsory automatic renewal (at inflated rates) for their mainstream security products I am strongly leaning towards ditching Norton as my product of choice.

Their Facebook page carries numerous posts about bank accounts being charged when consumers claim to have removed automatic renewal or never subscribed.....

But yet, this is still posted??  Oh Norton...where are you. I am sure many of us have answered this...Seriously, this really does surprise and disappoint me for  I just renewed..Norton 360..

Congratulations, Norton, you now have the worst track record, out of everyone, for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix a problem and totally ignore the user base. NOTHING.

FIX NU16!

I won't let this topic fade, either.

I can't let this conversation fade.

March 4th already. They need to at least communicate to all of us loyal customers. Three decades I've been a customer since it was just and Ant game. Can't they talk?
This error message prevents the software from running how it is intended. My Norton Utilities runs thru the Scheduler. It stops immediately when it hits the "Core Product Have Been Modified" error.

Come on. Unbelievable. It can't take a programmer 10 minutes to fix the code.

Yea, this is quite a long time. I really think Norton is no longer supporting this product update and waiting for this conversation  to fade. This product has been alive for so long without a  major product change within so many MS OS upgrades.  There is now a subscription version anyway. But, this is no excuse from a customer experience perspective for Norton to allow chatter/conversations to continue like this without-at least some kind of status or at least tell this group there will be no further updates. This is really a horrible Customer Experience to allow in any business.

"Be patient my friend" - We are not your friends. YOU can be patient as much as you like, but others here lost their patience a long time ago, and they have every right.

"Norton has a limited support staff that's probably making some extreme adjustments to the recent sell-off of part of the company" - Yeah, right. Well, that's exactly why I'll take my business to another company. One that does not have limited support staff. One that fixes a simple bug in less than two months. But hey - you can remain patient with Norton as much as you like. Enjoy!

I've been using Norton products for over 30 years and have occasionally encountered a problem with one of their product.  For the most part, however, I've been reasonably satisfied with their bug 'fixes', though one many months ago took a while for them to resolve.

To put it into perspective, I'm also a Microsoft-product user and can't begin to count the number of times I've run into features that don't work as advertised, or not at all.  Windows 1 was a so buggy/non-functional, I opted to go back to using the DOS O/S. However, it's improved a lot.  Occasionally, I've been frustrated to the point of planning to move to a Unix O/S, but didn't because it required a lot more hands-on to troubleshoot, and sometimes simply to use.  And while I have limited experience with the Apple O/S, I didn't want to spend the time needed to become highly proficient (I like to tweak).

Also remember, Norton has a limited support staff that's probably making some extreme adjustments to the recent sell-off of part of the company.

Be patient my friend.  Life's too short to get upset with something as benign as a minor software program.

Toyman

No answers from support, no patches, no fixes. Coming up on 90 days.

After more than 25 years as a Norton customer I have canceled my auto renew in my Norton Account that includes antivirus, utilities and storage.

I'm not doing business with a company that fails to support its products or warranties.

I'll be done with Norton by mid-March 2020.

Does that mean we'll no longer have to listen to your shouting?

2 months !

Two !#$%^& months had passed since this problem has been reported, and nothing had been done !   Still no solution !

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A NORTON PRODUCT AGAIN !!!

If that URL is from when you are logged out, that may have something to do with it. The forum software can be a little strange at times.

Is there not a brave employee that has been promoted through the company that displays and believes in morality ( Morality is the differentiation of intentions, decisions and actions between those that are distinguished as proper and those that are improper.) that will stand up and do the right thing here ?

There is one employee that has communicated with the gurus, but they are not high enough on the chain of command to make any decisions, or make any official statements. We are all just waiting for any news. Good or bad.

I see the same page not found. What page were you trying to access? Where did you get that link?

Please note that after testing several times prior to posting last comment that I had no issue logging in or out and was at the proper page.

After making last post and saving it the log out dumped me at the above URL as did the log back in to post this.

Hi Peter, It was login/log out off of this thread and that was the URL I was dumped to after sign in/sign out of this thread.                  https://community.norton.com/en/forums/yearly-issue-norton-utilities-16-core-product-files-have-been-modified

While at it can the interface to put a URL in as per above have the default setting be changed to HTTPS  ?

Peter is there any news as to what is happening with this issue ?      A few PO'd people out there changing products.  Please see my previous post same date or just see below.

I share your concern. I already uninstalled Utilities in favor of a better product. I disabled auto renew on Norton 360, and as a result, a little later on this year I will be 100% Norton-free. I lost all patience and confidence alike.

This is not a good feeling for Norton Lifelock as a company nor confidence for products and support.

As well new enrolment in accounts must have auto-renew turned on or loose protections/services/virus help/support.

I am steadily shocked at the nerve and gall of no response or fix for this product. Am beyond disappointment !

Same issue with NU16 not launching on schedule. So annoying. I did find a solution though, I've stopped using Norton.

peterweb:

I have not been to My Norton Account for sometime but did so the other day and have not found that NU16 is listed in my programs their (for the very 1st time ever), and is listed as Active.   I will state that it is only Partly Active

The Norton Account only shows subscription based products. NU 16 is not subscription based so it never did show in the My Account.

Hi, No idea.

It just turned up in my account as Active.  Shows start date but no expire date. As said not been for awhile now and site has been redesigned since last I was there.  It wiped out 2 of 3 systems of 5Lic I have NIS installed on, not using those installs as my Max board died on it's 5th anniversary and I stuck my hand in the middle of my old Laptop. (lol)  Anyways it does have account up to date since those have not been used for some time. I have 185 days left of NIS.

Off topic now.
