Your Marketing people are destroying Norton as a product

Have been a loyal Norton subscriber for years but the endless marketing popups etc. which now interfere with my working day mean that I am genuinely thinking about moving to a competing product.

I am guessing that since the recent takeover, the CEO/Marketing Dept have decided that the only way to recoup the purchase price will be by increasing turnover and in so doing boost the share price? (Off-topic - has anyone worked out yet why this feverish obsession with share price has been allowed to wreck so many companies? Boeing for one, GE for another).

This must be the reason why every day and sometimes several times a day I get endless popups and 'hints' about the urgent need to spend MORE money with Norton. I'll pass over the very dubioius tactic of pressurising customers into agreeing to automatic renewals then making it relatively difficult to cancel.

Today I had an urgent document to approve - yet when I went to turn on the VPN facility (to avoid sharing IP address) the whole darn thing was obscured by another annoying pop-up saying I should sign in to get even more benefits from Norton...  cue me running around trying to find my Norton password. All whilst seeing hideous yellow popups warning me about this and that and suggesting that my life would be made easier by paying more money to Norton for another add-on.

Whoever is monitoring this forum, you seriously need to let the Execs know that there is growing annoyance from your user base regarding this unsubtle and annoying marketing push. Because if sufficient users move to another product and stop paying their subscription, layoffs will follow and you might be one of them!

Thanks for listening.

Totally agree. It seems that ads are more important than the actual function and purpose of the software. Microsoft is just as guilty of this horrendous tactic. The real reason behind it all is likely data harvesting for profit without your knowledge or consent.

At this point your Marketing is like a bloody Spam Virus. Leave us alone. You will lose more customers than you will ever gain with this stupid outdated policy.

Totally Agree!!

Amen.
