“Your vault password is not unique”

I have a chrome extension for the password manager but one site I use I needed to use Firefox . I added the extension to Firefox and ever since I have the warning “Your vault password is not unique” is this because of the duplicated extension?

I am happy with my password. I was wondering if this warning is because I have the password manger extension on both chrome and Firefox

Norton help said change password but it is long and complicated. I do not to memorise another.

~ warning is not because you have Norton Password Manager on both Chrome and Firefox ~

AI Overview
The “Your vault password is not unique” alert from Norton indicates that your vault password is too similar to another password stored in your Norton Password Manager vault or an external account, posing a security risk. To resolve this, you should change your vault password within the Norton Password Manager app or web app to something entirely new and strong to enhance your data security.

Why this happens:

  • Norton’s Password Manager has a feature to detect if your chosen vault password is the same as, or too similar to, other passwords you’ve stored in your vault or potentially other accounts.
  • Using a non-unique password for your vault is a security risk because if one of your other accounts is compromised, an attacker could potentially access your vault.

How to change your vault password:

  1. Open: the Norton Password Manager web app or the mobile app on your device.
  2. Navigate: to the Settings.
  3. Locate: and click on Vault Settings or an equivalent option.
  4. Select: Change my vault Password or a similar option.
  5. Follow: the on-screen instructions to create a new, unique, and strong vault password.

AI Overview
To fix the “Your vault password is not unique” error in the Norton web app, reset your master password by clicking “Having trouble logging in?” on the vault login page, entering your Norton account email, and following the password reset link sent to your email. The error message means your master password isn’t strong enough and needs to be changed to a unique, complex combination of characters, which you can also do directly through the Norton Password Manager web app settings.

How to Fix the Error
Access the Login Page:
Go to the Norton Password Manager web app and attempt to log in.

Initiate Password Reset:
On the vault login screen, look for and click the link “Having trouble logging in?” or “Forgot Password”.

Provide Your Email:
Enter the email address associated with your Norton account and click to continue.

Check Your Email:
Norton will send an email with a link to reset your master password. Open this email and click the reset link.

Set a New, Unique Password:
Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new, complex, and unique master password for your Norton vault.

Important Considerations
What “Not Unique” Means:
This error indicates that your current master password is too simple and possibly already in use elsewhere. You need to create a new password that is complex and not shared with other accounts.

Use the Web App:
You can also access the settings for Norton Password Manager through the web app to manage and update your vault’s settings.

Backup Your Data:
Before making major changes, especially if you are having trouble accessing your vault, consider backing up your important data to a secure location.
