Yubikey Security Key

I setup a Yubikey security key for my Norton account on ChromeOS.  It works well.  When I try to use the same Security key on my iPhone for Norton, the key is not recognized.  The first time I tried to use it on my iPhone, it prompted me to download yubico authenticator.  When I did this, the authenticator says I have no accounts on the key device.  I didn't set up accounts on the device for Chrome.  I just plugged it in and pressed the button in the security key setup.  I setup the yubikey fine in the AppleID security key section.  It's still not recognized by Norton.

Norton prompts for either an iPhone or iPad device (through a QR code) or a Security Key.  I don't have another device setup to use the QR code.  I want to use the security key.

Can I only use the yubikey on one device for Norton?

If I understand things correctly, the yubikey is a physical device you need to plug into the device you wish to use to access an account. Unless there is some cable adapter, I cannot see that you can use this on a mobile phone.

The suggestion to download the authenticator app I assume uses the same kind of authentication protocols used by the key. But you will have to set that up as an additional 2FA option in your Norton Account. It is best to have at least one backup method using a different device for 2FA in case your primary method is not available or is lost.
