I just had Norton 360 switch to the new version and found that Backup to Disk has disappeared. I had just run live update and it showed as completed and I then started a local backup to disk with seven backup sets. I rely on the local backup to disk to backup about 12 TB of internal and external disk space. While the backup started the backup window disappeared and the new version window appeared with NO local backup option.
How is it acceptable to remove a feature with no advanced warning to allow customers time to find a suitable replacement? Back up to the cloud is not an option for me with the amount of data Iām backing up. I do a lot of photography and videography for charities and now I donāt have a viable backup solution.
I totally agree with your comments. I have opened issues dating back to 10/10, that auto-close every 4 or 5 days. I have never seen a Problem Management system handled in this manner, especially when you have paying customers.
My case(s) have been escalated to support, I would expect level-2, since 10/14, but I have yet to receive any kind of contact for them.
I first noticed v24.x on a spare Win 11 laptop on mine, and now it has auto-upgraded to v24.x on my other laptops. This is is NOT good. Like I have advised to Norton Support via Chat and my cases -
Bottom line, Norton needs to revert their backup processes to something like v22.x where the Paying CUSTOMER gets to determine where they want their data stored - external, cloud or both via their backup options.
P.S. - I realize Norton was taken over by Gen Digital
Besides the lack of a backup solution, how are we able to restore any of the files from our previous āNorton backups to a hard driveā should they be required? What were they thinking to delete this viable function without at least some reasonable notification?
if what they say is true it is possible fix in the 24.12 there is a 24.11 out now there dont has a patch not yet and if it is not fix in the 24.11 the backup is possible fix in the 24.12 they say it is comming aboute the 15 next mounth so take it easy they is working on it
I got the 24.12 update and I see no information on backup to anything other than the cloud. However since the update I see a lot of disk activity on my external drives and In the N360_BACKUP folders on the target disks, I see new folders that match the older folder names without the curly brackets. Add the dates on those new folders and files are since the update to 24.12, but again, I see no way to control it
Iām currently at ver. 24.12.9694 - build 24.12.9694.895
Same Issue, Norton needs to fix this or I will need to seek an alternative, Norton 360 has become āNorton 270 with annoying addsā without this feature. I also have an issue with it bugging me that I need to get Norton Utilities because I have some bullshit amount of issues, but I already own it and it reports 0 issues.
