When I started my computer today, this HUGE advertisement for Norton appeared in the center of my screen and won’t go away. If I click the X on the top right (either one), nothing happens. If I click either of the two buttons, a web browser opens but the pop-up still doesn’t close. Nothing seems to make it go away.
AND… I have the Norton option called “Send me promotional notifications” set to OFF, so why am I seeing this Norton promotional notification in the first place? I thought Norton was meant to protect my computer from spam, not to give my computer spam!
The Message Center is just spam from Norton. Are you saying now that in order to use a product that I paid for whose purpose is to prevent spam and other malware, I am require periodically to open a spam box within the product and see their spam? How does this make sense?
And I finally got the pop-up to go away by rebooting my computer. It didn’t come back this time, but I suspect it will come back again at some point. Having the pop-up in the first place is unacceptable. Having it stay until I reboot (or, I guess, buy something else from Norton) is really beyond the pale.
I’m having similar issues with Norton 360; It’s constantly showing me messages about performance issues. I pad for a product to protect me from viruses, malware, and SPAM, but my main source of SPAM is that same product.
How can I effectively and permanently disable those messages?
