This is my first post. I have a problem concernign opening webpages like:
gigapedia.org
roozonline.com
I searched internet and I tried all suggestions and solution. Without Norton Internet Security 2010 (On Windows 7 64), I have no problem. But with This Suite, I can not open some web page. Lan Setting, Proxy setting, (CMD) netsh winsock reset catalog, (CMD) netsh int ip reset reset.log did not change anything. Norton said these site are SAFE but why I can not open'em.
I am sure, and sure again, that it is a problem with my Norton Security Suite. With Kaspersky I have no problem. My freinds have no problem like mine with Kaspersky.
Should I use Kaspersky? What can I do to solve my problem, having my Dear Norton on My System.
I have no virus, spyware etc. My system is clean.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english. Waiting for a solution please.
P.S. Forget about these issues: Lan setting, Router setting, Virus issues, Driver issues. These are not the probem.
Can you please tell us the version number of NIS 2010 you have installed? What browser are you using when you see this problem? Have you tried disabling Smart Screen and see if this has effect please? What security program did you have before NIS 2010? How was this other security program removed?
Thaks floplot version number of NIS 2010 : 17.7.0.12 browser : IE8, FireFox, Gogle Chrome, Opera Have you tried disabling Smart Screen and see if this has effect please? Yes, Sure, But no sucess. What security program did you have before NIS 2010? Nothing, I installed Norton on a fresh copy of Windows.
In the internet, I saw many people that have this problem, but no answer yet from Norton to solve this problem. I like Norton, after Kaspersky and ESET, it is my choice to take Norton. But,This problem disapointed me!
On thing to mention: I tried to open these sites, i.e.: www.roozonline.com by a proxy site: for example : http://dandysurf.co.cc/ It WORKS!!! Why? Whats happen? I can open it with proxey.
By uninstalling Norton, I Can access to any site, but with Norton, No.
I dont even know where can I block a URL in firewall rules. I didnt customize it.
Anyway, I uninstall Norton (by the removal tool), Restart, same problem. (CMD) netsh winsock reset catalog, (CMD) netsh int ip reset reset.log again. Works! but after a while It wont open! Norton is not installed yet! I hate these **bleep** thing!
Maybe its a windows setting problem. After uninstalling Norton, I tried 5, 6 times opening the URLs. After that it was impossible to open the URLs. After, I install Norton, nothing changed.
Norton updated, default setting . . .
Could you please, you guys, try to open these URLs?
Make sure you don't have both Windows Firewall and NIS Firewall active at the same time.
I know you mentioned that when you uninstalled NIS you had the same problem. Was Windows firewall active then? If so, then perhaps Windows firewall is the problem.
Please double check both firewalls and make sure both are not active.
Also, do you have a router in your home network? If so, can you try bypassing the router and check to see if the problem is still there? Please note that to bypass the router you might have to make network configuration changes in Windows to be able to get online.
When I uninstalled norton, I enabled windows firewall.
Unfortunately I dont know nothing about router. I tried to fix this problem at the university: wireless and cable and at my friend's house. Same thing!
Where is the router?something like modem or something in windows?
I noticed that when i type the url in the browser and enter, it seems like the browser want to open the page in 1/100 sec, for example, but then it stops. Nothing, BUT I can see the logo of url (website) at the right side of IE tab.
I have also Malewarebytes, but it does not change anything. with or without that. (I think) I desactivated, but nothing change.
The router is an external device which serves as your gateway to the public internet. It provides routing services to send network traffic (IP packets) to the appropriate computer on your home network and also funnels traffic from your computer to the internet. Another thing it does is provide DHCP service which assigns IP addresses to any computer (wired or wireless) on your home network.
If you have more than one computer then you have a router or some other device which provides the same functionality.
If you bring up a CMD prompt (type cmd in the start menu search box and hit Return) and then type ipconfig it will show addresses assigned to your computer's network interface cards. If the IP address starts with 192 or 172 then you have a router or similar device. You can also see what your computer's Ethernet cable is plugged into at the other end.
Are you indicating that at your friend's house and the university you had the same problem getting to these websites?
