I just installed NIS on my computers and am having difficulty accessing my DROBO (like a NAS) from other pcs on the network. The DROBO is USB and shows up as a drive on the host and othe pcs. I can share files across pcs, including host pc, but all I can do is see the DROBO but when I try to access it I get an error message that mentions the usual permissions but also "Not enough server storage is available to process this command". I've never seen this message before.
I wasn't able to find much on this when searching around, but one forum said it has to do with IRPStackSize.
The host machine is XP, others are Vista. All pcs were rebooted and DROBO has latest software and firmware updates.
The host machine is not an actual server and has 3 gig of RAM. Memory usage is fine but I can't check now since I'm work - I know I tried accessing after a reboot without starting up any additional applications. I was attempting to access the drobo with just one machine.
Everything ran fine with McAfee's suite, but Comcast made us switch to Norton and that's when the problems started.

Just for info KenB, you are running a version of N360. The Mods may move your thread to another forum board. If this is done, there will be a link left so you can find it again.
Which version of Drobo do you have and how many drives are in it?
Before you installed Comcast Norton Security Suite, did you thoroughly remove McAfee first with their removal tool? I know that Comcast Norton Security Suite is supposed to remove McAfee, but there have been problems when people haven't used the McAfee tool first.
All antivirus programs have very sticky parts to discourage malware from messing with them. Most of them have their own particular removal tools to clean up. Here is a link to McAfee removal. Hope that helps. If you still have issues, it may require a removal of Norton and reinstallation. There are links available to Microsoft which provide info on how to allow the increase of the IRPStack size but most of them are related to actual servers so the path to the registry is likely to be different.
I'll try the removal tool tonight and see what happens.
What confuses me is why it's blocking the drobo, which appears as a regular drive, and not the other drive. I read somewhere on drobo's site that it needs certain ports to communicate - could Norton be blocking those? I looked all over but couldn't find where to unblock ports.
Have you got History that you can look at in Comcast. Part of the problem is that this board is NIS/NAV and we aren't familiar with your product. If you have History, there should be a menu where you can look at Firewall activities or intrusion prevention, which might shed some light on a blockage.
The error reported as IRPStack size would not result from a firewall block as far as I can tell, but it would prevent you from seeing the Drobo. I'm also wondering if some of the utility features in Comcast are warring with or duplicating some of the self-protection mechanisms in the Drobo.
I found a lot of instances of blocked communications and intrusion attempts by other pcs on the network, but I'll deal with those later.
Immediately after reboot there are four instances rules created for DroboDashboard. The rule for the DroboDashboard gives it auto access. Shortly after it blocked TCP connection from 192.168.1.3 on port www-http(80). 192.168.1.3 is the PC I was trying to access the drobo from.
The event log shows "The server's configuration parameter "irpstacksize" is too small for the server to use a local device. " at the same time the TCP connection was blocked. A couple services didn't start right at boot but they don't look related.
I can't find the Drobo under device manager, but under disk drives it has my two known drives and TRUSTED Mass Storage USB Device.
If you open program rules and double click the rule for the Drobo, you should be able to specifically allow the IP addresses and ports that show as blocked.
Did you see my prior post where I provided links to suggested fixes for IRPStacksize, and the other issue.
I had a similar problem with my all-in-one printer. It was also recognized as a mass storage device because of the fax memory storage. XP does not really know what to do about such things. It eventually would only recognize it as a network adapter, which was singularly unsuccessful.
Have you got a Vista or Win7 machine you could try as a potential server?
You can also click on the solution button and remove it as the solution so that hopefully you get more information from others.
I added the address of the pc I was trying to access from and still no change. I don't think it needs the DroboDashboard to access the drive.
As far as XP and it not dealing with the Drobo, it only became an issue when I installed Norton. I read those articles and will make the change and see if that helps.
I tried clicking on the "solved" button evidently I'm clicking on the wrong spot since it doesn't change.
