Check for automatic renewal

My Norton subscription was auto renewed last year. I do not want that. I followed the instructions to cancel auto renewal and it says there should be a button that says 'manage renewal" There is no such button on that page of my account. That would imply there will not be auto renewal. How can I be sure that is the case? and why was it auto renewed last year?
