Cloned C: to SSD and Now Ghost 15 Can't See It

Hi All,

Just did a clone of Windows 7 x64 from my old RAID0 array that was my C: drive to a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. Ghost 15 sees all the drives in the system except C:.  I have dug around on the forums and I have tried the uninstall\reinstall of Ghost as well as removing the MountedDevices reg key, neither of which worked.  I can see the drive letters in Disk Management.  I should point out that the SSD has the 100MB System Recovery partition on it as well.  In an attempt to get some kind of backup, I tried creating a system image using Backup and Restore but this failed when nearly finished with an error of "incorrect function 0x80070001".  Not sure if this gives us a clue as to what the root problem is or not.  Anyway, I am not sure how to proceed so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.  Cheers!

PS partinfo attached.

PSS Also just wanted to add that I tried doing a backup with Acronis 2013 which worked.  Not trying to imply im ready to switch to another product or anything, just that the issue doesnt seem to affect that product.

I'll be interested to see the Ghost partinfo too. Note the absent CHS information for HD0.

Actually I didn't note that at all :)

I'm just not familiar with the terrabyte tool.

I was expecting the file system to extend too far being that it was a RAID likely going to a smaller SSD.

Dave

Thanks for the responses folks.  Sorry I thought the gui tool would be just as good.  Here is the new partinfo.

Interesting CHS errors.

Download BootIt BM. There is a 30 day trial usage. Unzip the file and make a boot CD.

 double click makedisk.exe, next
dot in BootIt Bare Metal, next
dot in I accept the agreement, next
don't select Image for DOS (GUI), next
dot in Mouse Support Enabled, next
 dot in VESA Video, next
dot in Video Mode 1024*768 - 64K Colors, next
dot in Partition Work (Don't put a dot in Normal), next
don't choose any Device Options, next
tick in Enable USB 1.1 (UHCI), next
tick in Align partitions on 2048 Sectors, next
 ignore Additional bootitbm.ini Options, next
select your CD burner drive letter (you can use a CD-RW or a CD-R disc)
 Finish

The BootIt CD boots to the Work with Partitions window
in the Drives field, make sure it is 0 - BIOS HD (this should be your SSD)

Do you see *Errors Exist*?

Do you see an E next to the word Partition?

Similar to this....

Ok, so no errors listed on that first screen and there is no E next to the word partition.  If I go into the properties of each partition, there are warnings as follows:

System Reserved:  Files System ends at LBA 206840

OS Partition:  Files System ends at LBA 500310008.  Partition may not boot in NT.

Thanks for the extra info.

On the Work with Partitions screen, select the first partition, the SRP.

Hold down Left Shift on the keyboard and click Properties.

Type 206840 (your number) into the End LBA Information field. Click Ok.

Do the "same" for the second partition. Win7.

Does that fix Ghost?

I set the system reserved for 206840 and the OS for 50031008 but the C: drive is still not visible to Ghost.

OK. Let's cleanup the start of each partition.

Select the SRP, click Resize, OK

Reduce the number in the New Size field by 3, click OK

Click Slide

Make the Free Space Before equal to 2, click OK, Continue

Click Resize, OK, leave the number alone and click OK

Do the same for the Win7 partition. The Slide will be slow.

How is Ghost now?

Success!  Ghost can now see the C: drive.  Thanks very much for your help!

Could you post another ghost partinfo please?

Dave

Sure.  Here you go.

Nice work.

Have another go at the SRP with Left Shift/Properties.

Sorry, wasnt able to look at this till now.  Do you mean shift the SRP a meg or two further, or to expand it again?

Sorry from me too. I was cryptic.

In BIBM, select the SRP and use left Shift/ Properties to see if the End LBA needs to be changed.

Ok, checked this and there are no errors for the SRP.  It has a size of 97, a start of 6144, and and end of 204799.  The only thing is now, it no longer shows up in ghost.  C: drive is still there but since I have rebooted, the SRP is not listed.

Can you post another partinfo.txt?

Here you go.
