Email Protection

How do I know nd or confirm whether Norton Secrurity is protecting my email? I am using Postbox 3 and had no indication that my emails and or attachments are being scanned.

Hi bigdavega,

In Norton Network Settings, click Configure [+] for the Email Antivirus Scan and make sure the "Protect against timeouts" option is checked.  It probably is, but you should verify this.

It Is checked already. Thanks

All of a sudden the email protection feature won't allow me to send or receive mail with Windows Live Mail. The following occurs:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Cox (cda1951) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Server: 'pop.east.cox.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

If I disable the email protection, email is sent and received normally. What could be the problem?

Hi bigdavega,

I thought it would be.  Does this error occur with all sent messages, or only large messages, or messages with large attachments, or only when you send a large number of messages at the same time?

I have checked my security settings. I have Norton Internet Security; version: 18.5.0.125. I have attached my system info.

I get the error message every time, sending or receiving.

Sorry, do not see System Info.

Anything unusual to report about your update to 18.5

Run Live Update ~ reports no updates found and you did reboot after 18.5

Norton is behaving normally ... except for this email issue.

Yes, everything is normal except for the email problem.  System info: HP-Pavilion NE504AV-ABA d5200t;  Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) (build 7600): 2.67 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q9400; 8192 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory; 1920.40 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity; 8192 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory; Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection.

Probably unrelated.  This user reports email issue upon 18.5 update

Different issue ~ Definitely NOT related.  Just a quirky 18.5 coincidence.

Interesting the way an update sometimes ......  umm, just interesting.

Thank you

When I started Windows Live Email this morning it worked fine. I didn't make any changes, go figure.

Great, well you fixed it :smileyhappy:

I think it was your ISP.  No reason to point to Norton sans proof.  So, we'll blame your ISP.  Call em' ...see if they had a server down or were upgrading service or ?

Thank you for updating your Topic
