Fancontrol.sys wird blockiert

First and most important, myself and other Guru’s are not Norton employees therefore we have no say about what Norton does nor doesn’t detect. We donate our time assisting and providing solid as possible answers for issues others have.

That being said, the WinRing0.sys vulnerability wasn’t a Norton or any other A/V solutions issue to resolve, its the creator of that software responsibility. And as that driver has unfettered direct access to system hardware it can also infect the OS. THAT, would be a liability for any A/V vendor directly on its face. Windows Defender will report this as a usable driver for hack-tools.

If you are personally willing to take the risk, exclude that driver from Norton detections. We DO NOT recommend you do that, this vulnerability has been around since 2022. Making things ever worse is there hasn’t been any general “fix” released for that driver and we are 3 years down the road from the original warning. I use MSI Afterburner on my daily duster machine, it also uses the WinRingO.sys drivers, Norton has NOT nailed it to date as being malicious. I would imagine the manner in which MSI uses that driver makes the difference. No outdated or abandoned certificate issues. The creators of fan control are obviously not updating their software and following that line. The software is now for all intents been deemed “abandonware”, or no longer supported. Getting it and using it does present risks most are not willing to take. Your mileage may vary.

That’s not possible (anymore?). That’s why I’m upset. Even if everything is set to “disabled”, the driver installation is blocked. Maybe it’s just a bug? I don’t have any protection mechanisms enabled, and yet Norton is still dictating what I can and can’t do.

Why are you constantly dithering about these drivers? The point is: just let me make an exception for everything and anything! I’m not stupid, and I’m happy to solve a captcha to confirm that I’m sure I want to install this or that.

But: Software determines what I have to do. Well… I didn’t think it would happen so quickly. AI makes everything better?
