I was reading this post https://visit.community.norton.com/t/issues-with-firewall-since-norton-360-24-update/361723 and realized I’m facing a very similar issue with the new Norton 360 Version 24 update.
Since the update, the intelligent firewall has been blocking several critical applications I use daily for work. Specifically:
- Remote Access Issues: I rely on Cisco AnyConnect for VPN access, but it keeps throwing a firewall error, even after allowing it through the traffic rules.
- Video Streaming and Recording: I use OBS and virtual webcams like NDI sources, but the firewall is aggressively blocking them despite adding exceptions.
- Network Performance: File sharing via SMB over the local network has slowed down drastically, which wasn’t an issue before the update.
I’ve already tried resetting the firewall settings, manually adding all the affected programs to the allowlist, and even disabling specific traffic rules temporarily. However, nothing seems to work unless I completely turn off the firewall, which defeats the purpose of having Norton installed.
Has anyone figured out how to make the Norton 360 firewall less aggressive without compromising security? Are there advanced settings or configurations that could help resolve these issues? Thanks
