I am using Norton Safe Search as my homepage on Firefox. Today I noticed that there were no green check marks on web results. I have contacted Norton and they said that they no longer show. I am very disappointed by this change with no warning.
The green check marks have always appeared for me on search.norton.com. I assigned that as my home page. But they do not appear when I use the Norton Home Page Extension. Whenever I create a new tab I am given the extension page. The marks do not appear on that page. I haven’t found a way to not have the extension page load. That’s the page where you can change the background.
Strange happenings. Perhaps this is a diversion. When I search “The Pirate Bay” using search.norton.com the listing shows a green check mark. Clicking on the link takes me to The Pirate Bay web site. If I use my booked mark Pirate Bay link I get the dangerous page warning. That’s because I have the Norton Safe Web extension active. If I deactivate it I have no problem using my bookmarked link. Seems strange that one page says it’s safe (which it is) and another that says it’s dangerous.
Well they were back they have lasted all of 12 days!!! THEY ARE MISSING AGAIN TODAY!!! Get it sorted NORTON!!!
PLEASED TO SEE THAT THE GREEN CHECK MARKS ARE BACK TODAY. HOORAY
Just bookmark search.norton.com as all other suggestions do not seem to work today. Hopefully Norton will sort this that’s if they bother to read these posts.
Yes search.norton.com does work. However, I don't know how to make it my home page. When I click on the "house" I get a search page that will not show the check marks. At the left end of the search bar is a "safe search" icon. If I click on that I get a search page that does work and that's search.norton.com. The house is an extension search page that I can change the background on and have the weather show in the corner. I believe that's an extension search page.
Try using search.norton.com that seems to work. I have tried all the above and agree that today 17/04/2024 they do not work.
HOPEFULLY SOMEONE AT NORTON WILL BE READING THIS AND WILL COME UP WITH A SOLUTIONToday (04/16/2024) none of my hacks seem to work. No green mark no matter what I do.
I have tried all the ways mentioned and they all work. However, why should we have to go through all this when the check marks should come up automatically. Surely this is why we pay for Norton Safe Search!!
I don't use Google for my searches, I use the Norton Safe Search web page for my searches. Clicking the magnifying glass on Google search does not make the green check marks appear. After I do a search on the Norton Safe Search page I do not see any check marks next to found links, not red, green or gray. If I then click the magnifying glass at the end of the search box the check marks will appear.
I use Norton Safe Search web page for my searches. At the end of the search box there is a magnifying glass. When I click that after a search doesn't show the green check mark the check marks appear. Clicking on the circle arrow next to the homepage icon (house) does nothing for me.
If you mean the magnifying glass to the right of the search term in Google Search, then that does the same as refreshing the page.
What do you mean by the magnifying glass?
Doing a reload doesn't do anything for me. However, if I click on the magnifying glass the green marks appear. That may have been what you meant. It's easier than my way. Thanks.
I also found that worked with Firefox and the Norton Safe Search extension. I have also book marked the following search.norton.com and that also works
I sometimes notice there are no green check marks. All I do is refresh the browser page and they usually appear again.
I have the same problem, no green check mark next to web searches on Firefox (Chrome also). One way I found to get the green check mark is to click (or double click) on the "news" link at the top of the search results. Then click (or double click) back on the "web" link. When I do that the green check marks all of a sudden appear. Not a perfect solution but a solution.
It seems to be okay at the moment do not know what was wrong.
Can you try Norton Safe Search extension with another browser...as test?
