So far, this release is a disaster. Of the things I can remember:
Attempting to download updates results in “unable to connect to live update.” In tray icon, live update selection is grayed out.
Immediately, it started blocking all other computers on my local network. Had to dig through the settings to find Exclusions under Intrusion Protection and add my local network. Not sure yet if this fixed it.
Norton started putting things in Sandbox on multiple disk drives. No way to turn this off that I can find.
And this is what I found in the first hour of using it. I’ve been using Norton Security for decades, but if it’s going to get in the way of working I’m done with it.
Update: access by other localnet computers was still blocked until I changed the setting File and Printer Sharing in Intrusion Prevention to off.
Why, oh why, didn’t this update just propagate settings from the previous Norton 360? Hunting through the settings to find the right one to fix the problems this update caused is a real pain.
I hope Norton 360 developers watch this forum. If not, please tell me where to post these complaints.
My live update is also greyed out, What good is new design if vital protections are unusable. Wrong priorities. I hate the new design too, I prefer the classic layout
but you can download the update manuel on nortons website you has to live whit the new version ass soon ass you go back to the old if you update you got the new agian what version do you got there is a 24.11 out soon and that is fixing many bugs so take it easy it is ass new that you not even cant see the patch note only 24.10 has a patch note
And the backup to local harddisk is if my info is corract is working agian in the 24.12 it is ready aboute the 15 next mount but it can get delayed but it is meant to fix that
The forcing of a paywalled password manager/constant notification is beyond horrid. Found it changed the update server, had to whitelist all of avast dot com and avcdn dot com to fix updates. AND NOW there is a store on my antivirus.
I agree. It arrived without any notice. When restart my Windows 11 pc thankfully the old version is still available. But during the session this new version appears and I lose access to the old version. I see that my pc has two vesrions of Norton 360!!! Can I delete the new version?
I’m SOOO sick of this "Privacy Monitor Maladvertising built into norton, Run a scan and get persistent popups about privacy monitor an “EXTRA” paid service I will NEVER!! get.
