I have to say it REALLY speaks volumes at a scream when a company does NOT allow you to PERMANENTLY turn off their pop-up marketing and other notifications for their products. It screams that the company is in financial trouble.
There are TONS of FREE computer/network security products these days and I am about to make the decision to switch from renewing my Norton subscription to going to one of those free products like for example, Defender which comes built into the Windows OS from Microsoft. The price for a Norton subscription is beyond expensive, and beyond not worth it.
Now, for the problem that brings me here. My problem and complaint is the same, from what I have seen by the TONS of other people's postings that are the same to my complaint, is with Norton's total as in 100% REFUSAL to give any options at all to PERMANENTLY get their product's/company's pop-up marketing and all other types of pop-up notifications to STFU PERMANENTLY! Currently the only option for getting the pop-up notifications to STFU is for a MAXIMUM of 24 HOURS as in 1 DAY. That is 100% unacceptable. I do NOT want to see marketing notifications for ANY of their other products or services AT ALL. If I want them I can find them easily, I do NOT want them shoved in my face when I am already a subscribing customer paying more than the product is worth these days especially when there are FREE options available (and which I am seriously considering switching to when my subscription is up for renewal). I also want to be able to turn off all notifications for features I have made the conscious decision to NOT use. I also want to be able to turn off PW notifications pertaining to suggesting I change my PW. I know my PW may or may not have been exposed SOMEWHERE at SOME TIME, but you know what, so have billions of other people's PW and if I choose to not care that is MY DECISION quit bugging me about it.
That all being said, Norton if you do NOT have a way to PERMANENTLY (NOT ONLY FOR 24 HOURS/ONE DAY) turn off ALL notifications then when you do the next update on the products you need to make it a 100% PRIORITY to have your developers change that worthless 24 HOURS/ONE DAY option to include PERMANENTLY as one of the options/settings.
For the record, the price for the subscription for ONLY your internet security is just completely beyond being worth its price.
I have gone into all of the settings as all instructions have provided and with there only being the 24 HOURS/ONE DAY setting there is no other option I can find to turn off your notifications.
I share your grief, there used to be a way to alter a setting to turn off all but serious warnings/alerts, But I cannot see it in settings any more. I have just got used to closing said messages.
This was one of my concerns when Norton joined forces with Avast which always brought up messages for other products, I even had one elderly client who was alarmed by one of the sales messages for a product she ended up with two paid for Avast subscriptions (under same email address!!!) Seems Norton is now going the same way.
I know how you feel. I was a Norton enthusiast for tons of years and always as a tech, recommended it. Now I don’t recommend it to anyone and tell people it is no longer worth the price being charged. I used to love their Norton Utilities now they are useless and obsolete. I ended my subscription a long while ago and have uninstalled all but one Norton product. The only product I still use is their Identity Safe for my PW. I still use that because I have approximately 20 years worth of account info in there. I don’t even think it is possible to export the information in any format that could be imported into any other brand of PW safe product. I know the info can be exported to be backed up but I don’t think the export is compatible for any other brand of PW safe.
I am afraid that Norton and myself are parting company
I cannot stand the pop=ups any more
They have become a computer virus themselves
A computer virus is anything that detracts from computer enjoyment
I’m sorry, but I must say that this is not true. I have another Computer with an Avast Ultimate license, and I don’t receive pop-ups or any kind of advertising prompting me to buy another Avast product. Maybe that is true with the Free version of Avast, but not with the paid version. That’s another reason why I am so annoyed with advertising messages in a paid version of Norton!
Super frustrated with Norton because of these! I paid the full price to renew this year. I usually let it expire and wait until I can find a deal. Because it is WAY over priced and now they are throwing ads at us telling us how much more protected we CAN be if we paid $60 more there $99 more here… Now I don’t feel very protected at the $100+ a year because of these other options that tell me that I could be in trouble. rolls eyes I’m afraid I’m unhappy and I’ve trusted Norton since way back 20+ years ago now. I think I found out how to turn those off by googling it but of course not from Norton itself. Settings, Notification, Mute special offers.
Thanks for the suggestion. You would think that would take care of the problem, but not with Norton on my laptop! I tried turning off the notifications in settings as you show, but they keep popping up anyway. It’s beyond irritating and I am considering leaving Norton after 20 years just to escape these annoying popups.
After twenty five years Norton and I will be parting ways. The incessant pop-up’s are the last straw. Norton has become very user unfriendly and I am over it Bye Bye.
I feel all Norton marketing should be confined to Norton Store.
I can visit Norton Store, anytime I want.
I do not want Norton Store visiting me, anytime Norton wants.
I agree with everyone . the product is too expensive and the popups are excessive. I also have been using norton for over 25 years and I am killing my subscription after it expires. I hope admins read this.
THIRTY years of a loyal paying Customer … and it’s lost in stupid annoying pop up sale messages … How so the mighty have fallen. If I was Peter, I’d make you remove my name…
