AI Overview
To cleanly remove a Windows program, start by using the built-in Windows uninstaller or the Control Panel. For a more thorough removal, including leftover files and registry entries, consider using a third-party uninstaller tool like IObit Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller. You can also manually delete residual files and folders and clean the registry after uninstalling.

1. Standard Uninstall:

  • Using the built-in uninstaller: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, select the program, and click Uninstall.
  • Using Control Panel: Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, right-click the program, and select Uninstall.

2. Thorough Removal:

  • Third-party uninstallers: IObit Uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller offer advanced features to scan for and remove leftover files and registry entries.
  • Manual cleanup: After uninstalling, manually delete any remaining folders in locations like Program Files or AppData.

3. Registry Cleanup (Advanced):

  • You can manually delete registry entries associated with the program, but proceed with caution as incorrect modifications can damage your system.

4. Disk Cleanup:

  • Use the Disk Cleanup utility to remove temporary files, cache, and other temporary data.

Tips for Clean Removal:

  • Uninstall from the Control Panel or Settings: This removes the program’s main files and folders.
  • Use a third-party uninstaller: These tools can detect and remove leftover files and registry entries, ensuring a cleaner uninstallation.
  • Manually delete leftover files: If you’re comfortable, you can manually delete folders and files associated with the program after uninstalling.
  • Clean the registry: Consider cleaning the registry to remove leftover entries.
  • Use Disk Cleanup: This utility can help remove temporary files and other junk that may be left behind.

Call Norton and get the agent to remove marketing from your subscription. I just did that and the agent said only they can do it on their end. In our computer, we can’t, only temporarily. We shall see if this works.

Hello @gak1
I was just curious why Norton support said:
only they can do it on their end.
My problem with Norton 360 this past year is some of their Popups (at the bottom right) have total dysfunctional problems.

  1. It displays partially off the screen and there’s no way to close it. And it just sits there in the way. I tried going in Win11 Settings and changing the display Zoom scale back to 100% (since 15" laptops come with resolution text too small for the screen size).
But all that did was move Norton’s popup out in the middle of the screen. Amazing even seeing it’s entirety there is NO way to close this thing (except maybe to click the Renew Now button).
  2. And it’s set to Stay On Top and cover everything else. Amazing the dysfunctional audacity of this ridiculous thing. It makes me think of Norton as some joke instead of a competent software.
  3. I tried to take a Win snip capture to show here, but when I click new on snip the Norton Popup disappears (?) but comes back after I close snip. Have no idea what kind of window they are using but it’s horrible.
  4. Oh and the mute notifications does NOT remove it.

Hello @R_W_B
Yes, some Norton pop-up notices since v24 cannot be Win snip’d.

Yes, some Norton pop-ups since v24 can only be captured with a phone.
for example:

Hello @R_W_B
Yes, I’ve needed to tweak Windows → Accessibility → Text size + Restart machine…when Norton 360 renders too large.

After decades of use, I have completely CANCELED my account, due to ALL the marketing popups. I have tried to shut these off for months, and they still popup. Additionally, I have worked with tech support, cleared cache, rebooted, reinstalled, and they still popup. (LifeLock, VPN etc…), I have confirmed they are from NORTON. This is worse than the scammers I trying to protect against.
