Sounds like a similar situation, he probably has some type of gaming software that checks back to a server and each time it does, we report that the system tried to get to that site.
I would suggest the same, uninstall that product if you don't want your child using it.
Please get this to your technical team. I am using onlinefamiliy.norton.com. I have found that some web pages are reported MULTIPLE times to my email. Yes, I am screaming. My daughter visited blocked shopping sites and I got 399 emails. Each email refers to one URL location for a graphic, html element, or link to another site. This is the third time I have sent a comment on this. This needs to be fixed before you start charging people for this program! Here are some examples:
If not, then determining the embedded urls (the locations where graphics and other items on a web page are retrieved from) will not work properly.
I would have 2 suggestions, make sure you are using IE or FF and we have just found out recently that the Yahoo toolbar can cause us to not report sites properly as you have suggested below.
Please let me know what browser and toolbars you are using.
The activity reports for Web appear to be correct but whilst there are many entries for the 31st Dec, the time activity report shows no activity. Any ideas?
the time activity report will only show entries if your child uses the computer beyond the time limits or tries to log in after curfew
so unless they are breaking a time rule, the time activty report will show nothing, however in future release we will starting tracking and reporting total time being used
I've been using Online Family Norton for quite awhile and just yesterday began having issues with the reporting. While I'm logged in with my user I get emails reporting usage from one of my sons account, which he isn't even on. It'll report him as not monitored and also attempting to access sites that are only in my favorites from my log in (when I'm logged in and NOT even using those sites). It's just weirded out on me and I don't know how to correct it? Thanks for the help! I LOVE this! In fact, I wouldn't even allow my children online without it!
I keep getting periodic messages the Safety Minder has been disconnected. I'm sure my son doesn't know my password, so I'm not sure how this is possible. The explanation about having the browser open doesn't make sense to me. It was of course open while downloading, but has been closed and re-opened dozens of times since then. I need to know what the deal is here.
Trying to help my aunt with this program she has desktop running windows XP home with newest version of safety minder, internet explorer 8,Norton anti virus, works perfect thank u great program, got a net book from wal-mart for Christmas running windows XP, Norton antivirus, internet explorer 8, this one has only reported a couple of internet traffic since installed,it also noticed when we installed and tried to reinstall which did not help, only difference I can tell is desktop is hard wired to internet and notebook is wireless, can you help us with this problem thank u
Having hard wired to internet or using wireless shouldn't make any difference. The program supports both connections.
Could you check to see if you can get to a blocked website? Does the Norton Safety Minder icon, a dog paw active in the system tray (not dimmed, and with a red X on it)?
Are you able to view what is being said when your child is on facebook? I see he logs on but cant get any further than that. What all can you view and not view?
I have 4 computers set up with Safety Minder. Three of them report beautifully just as expected and one of them stopped reporting a little while after installing SM. It is enabled and the paw is on the lower right corner. The computer is running Vista but so are two of the other three that work just fine. Please help.
I still have the problem. After re-installing Safety Minder or Rebooting the computer the activity is reported for about 20 minutes and then it stops until the next reboot. It blocks sites just fine but I don't get the activity when I log on to Onlinefamily.
I would be more than happy to setup a remote desktop access and work together with you on this. You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details. You can find my email address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id=15038
I have installed Norton OnlineFamily, but it is not blocking any websites. It is monitoring, but not blocking. It even allows the websited I specifically requested to block. I have set it up in the user account, but it won't update the house rules and it is still allowing access. I have turned off the MAC parental controls.
