Kudos button is barely recognizable

Closer to the bottom of the post, either left or right side would also be clearer because in the end when someone offers a Kudo it should be about the content of the post and not the user who posted it.

Being so close to the user details implicitly implies that the kudo is related more to the poster than the content which is not right.

Also with some of the long posts which are common on the forums, being at the top makes it easy to not notice it because it is off the screen by the time you read the entire post.

That said, thanks for change Tony.

My two cents worth.

Thanks. The "kudos" text is just a temporary one; we have a much better fix coming, but there were some technical issues that prevented it. Thanks for the feedback on it! I agree that it is long overdue and was very confusing before. Hopefully this will help forum members to better use the forums.

Thank you Tony  for fixing the Kudos symbol so that others know what that symbol was.

UPDATE: we're working on some additional Kudos changes to make it more clear. We're finalizing color and position right now, but I'll let you know when it is ready to go live. Thanks!

You need to resolve the issue with the missing 'Solution' button that Yaso mentions here before we can effectively comment on this new Kudos feature update.

We should have the Solution button back up shortly. Thanks!

On the topic of the Kudos Buttons, perhaps other people may wish to share their opinions about the change. Let me walk you through the changes and our reasons for them:

- Kudos buttons moved to the right side of the post: it has been moved to help reinforce the idea that you are endorsing the CONTENT and not the USER. Moving it to the left was making a strange association

- Kudos buttons have changed colors: these are Symantec colors, and align better with the rest of the community colors

- Kudos button actually has the word Kudos on it: so you know what it is!

Let me know any comments or concerns about this change. I think it's a great step toward improving the site. Thanks for all your help with this.

HI Tony

You are right in that it is more logical, from a user perspective, to have the button where it now is. Good move/change:smileyhappy:

I must say the same. Now it is in a better position for the users who do not come as often as we do.

For us now it's a bit strange, as we get used to where it was, just have to learn it again :D

Hello

mmm. I don't see the word Kudos on the symbol. I see the information about it when I hover my cursor over it. I see the word Kudos where it shows the number of Kudos received for the post.

I like the new appearance and positioning :-D Elegant, too :-)

Hi elsewhere, the solution button is back now. What do you think of the new Kudos buttons?

Yays! I can see it again - thanks, Tony :-)

Hello Tony

Did you say that the Kudos button actually says Kudos on it? I'm not seeing Kudos on the button itself.

xp pro sp3 IE 7

I know this is the tiniest problem (if it is a real problem), but I must report it :D :D :D :D:

- By the Kudos button you see the text: x Kudos.

- If you go over the Kudos button, on the pop-up text you see kudos.

- EDIT: The same by the Sorry you can not give kudos this post text when you are over your own posts' Kudos button.

Everywhere I see anybody write this word, I see Kudos (the first letter is in capital). I didn't find info about it how to write it right, so if you have time, can you check it?

It's less of an "inconsistency", and more of a "style preference". In the button, it makes sense to have it capitalized to show an official Kudos marker. However, in the hover text, when we mention that you can give kudos to another user, having the "k" lowercase makes more sense in that context. I recommend that if you aren't sure whether or not to capitalize "kudos", do whichever you feel is correct. I promise not to correct you :smileywink: Thanks!

Floplot, are you saying that you don't see the word Kudos anywhere? Or are you seeing the same thing as in PapauZ's screenshot? Thanks!

Thanks Tony! ;)

Hello Tony

I am seeing it like PapauZ's screenshot. I had thought you meant that the word kudos was visible by just looking at the kudos symbol. I do see it when I hover over it with my cursor. So everything is ok then Tony. Sorry for the confusion.

Tony,

I like the new arrangement in general for the reasons you give but I'd like to see more space between the two Kudos related "buttons" and the [Reply] button

The eye tends automatically to go to the brighter color and so does the mouse pointer when what I want to do is post a reply (in this case I wanted to do both of course <g>)  -- maybe even center the Kudos pair ... ? This color emphasis is important since the two action buttons under the Reply Editior I am now using are Red and not Gray .....
