Issue abstract: Microsoft Solitaire Collection reports an error that it can’t download game data, and other internet related errors. Safe Web seems to be involved, as turning it off resolves the problem, and turning it on again causes it to happen again, albeit in less places sometimes.
Detailed description: Microsoft Solitaire Collection reports that it’s unable to download game data at various places, e.g. when starting the app after installation or trying to log in after installation. When trying to download new content or load Today’s Event, it reports that an internet connection is needed, even though there is an internet connection. Today’s Event is also not active. It can however display ads, so the internet connection must be OK.
Norton 360’s Safe Web seems to be involved, as turning it off resolves the problems and turning it on again causes the problems to reappear, but sometimes in less places. For example, if you logged in while Safe Web was turned off, the message won’t appear when you start the app or try to log in again, but will appear when you try to go to Today’s Event.
Microsoft Solitaire Collection must be accessing some web links that Safe Web is blocking.
Product & version number: Norton360 Anti Virus Scan, VPN version 2.120.1, Microsoft Solitaire Collection version 4.23.
OS details: iOS 18.6.2
What is the error message you are seeing?
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:
I don’t understand your first question. I know that when logging on, it uses a website and popup browser to login. Given that Safe Web being turned on leads to problems, I assume that URLs are involved.
I don’t know what those URLs might be as Norton 360 doesn’t produce any error messages or history and Microsoft Solitaire Collection doesn’t say anything either.
VPN in Norton 360 is off, but turning it on makes no difference (VPN was set to Fastest Location when it was on, and it connected to the same country as I’m in).
Will look into this later.
No error codes are displayed.
I’ve tried a few things like play around with Safari settings, turning off Limit IP Address Tracking on Wifi. Makes no difference.
That link leads to your post in another forum with the actual link. I followed the link and completed the details and it gave me some options.
However there are issues there too. Social support gives you a choice between Facebook and Twitter (sic). While Twitter leads to a Norton Support account on X where you can leave a message, there is no such account in Messenger.
