Norton 360 continues trying to sell me extras I already own

Issue abstract: Norton 360 is always trying to sell me stuff I already own

Detailed description: When I run Smart Scan, the results include a window that describes thousands issues that my computer has and gigabytes of garbage clogging my disks. Only it’s VERY wrong because I have JUST run Utilities Ultimate, which tell me my machine is relatively problem free.

Product & version number: Norton 360

OS details: Windows 11 24H2 (Os Build 26100.2605)

What is the error message you are seeing? Help make your Windows PC run like new again / 26823 performance issues found /…/ 36.66 GB of clutter

THEN I hit continue and I get a screen trying to sell me Norton Utilities Ultimate (“Help make your Windows PC run like new again”), which I already own.

So, I run Utilities Ultimate independently and get basically a “things are cool” screen with less than a gigabyte of items to remove and two processes it recommends I turn off.

BTW, I don’t use Norton VPN because when I used it overseas, it frequently turned itself off for no reason. It is UNRELIABLE!!! I use another VPN that is very reliable, based on the recommendation of a former colleague who’s a well known tech journalist (“Why the F are you using Norton anything?”).

@Grandpa_of_Loba There are many on the forums who are seeing the same as you. Personally, I never use defragmentation, registry cleaners, or other snake oil tools that are guaranteed to goon a computer really quick. I do hope that the sell, sell, sell mentality with this product reaches the point where someone listens before there aren’t customers anymore.

I have reverted back to version 22.24.8.36, disabled automatic updates and use intelligent updater to stay current. I will do so until the 24.xx release becomes market ready for consumption.

The only options are revert or remove Norton current version to stop the baked in selling that as some here suggest, are marketing under other than normal pretenses. I chose to revert. That may be an option for you as well. If you need pointers for doing so please allow me to assist, I will be more than happy to do so.
