Norton 360 crashes Thunderbird's retrieval of Gmail messages

Note: Please do not post Personally Identifiable Information like email address, personal phone number, physical home address, product key etc.

Issue abstract: To retrieve Gmail messages, I must authorize ignoring the threat warning. I’m not able to set up Norton to check my eMail messages for threats.

Detailed description: also problem when send messages … when I sought to send mail, I got messages , "Peer;s Certificate issuer is not recognized The configuration related to smtp.gmail.com must be corrected. " I seem to have gotten around that problem.

Product & version number:
Thunderbird 115.18.0 (32-bit)
OS details: Win7 professional, Version 6.1 build 7601 service pack 1
Norton 360 … I can’t find where it lists a version number.

What is the error message you are seeing? It says, "you are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. “imap.gmail.com:993 " This sire attempts to identify itself with invalid information. Unknown Identity.” It suggests I “get certificate” but that doesn’t work .

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them: I could not figure out how to add screen shots to this posting .

Your older posting on the same issue is here:

Your version of Thunderbird is the last supported version for Windows and its a 32 bit install as well. Making things worse is Windows 7 has been unsupported for ages now, meaning being internet facing its extremely vulnerable. Malware will look for these unsupported installs and begin pounding them with issues, downloading certificates is one of those vulnerabilities.
