Norton 360 does not show a context menu in the taskbar and in the startup programs

N360 Version: 22.24.7.8 (Error since version 22.24.5.6)
Windows Version: Windows 11 Home, 23H2
System Build: 22631.4112
Windows Feature Experience Pack: 1000.22700.1034.0

After using the offline installer for version 22.23.10.10 several times, only 1 error remained (hopefully)

After restarting the PC and logging into the MS account (Windows Hello), Norton 360 does not show me any context menus in the taskbar or in the startup programs. None of the other programs in the taskbar show this error. Logging out of the account and logging back in eliminates the N360 error.

I noticed that you can already tell from the login screen whether the error will occur or not.
If the screen shows the following login mask, the error occurs. You can see that Windows has already carried out activities (weather, information about the image)
When the login screen appears after turning on the PC, you can see that the image first pops up without any information, then disappears again briefly and then appears with the information.

If you want to turn the PC off again before logging into the account, it indicates data loss

If you log in, no context menus for N360 appear

This is what the login screen should look like if everything works after logging in. This is what it looks like when you log out and log in again. (only time, date and day of the week, no weather, no image information)

If you want to turn the PC off again before logging into the account, there will be no message about data loss.

If you log in in this situation, the context menus for N360 appear

Does anyone in the community have the same problems and what is the solution?

If you restart the PC now, you may lose unsaved data from other people who use the PC.
Restart anyway?

Who are other people?
I activated the internal administrator on my PC a long time ago, but it is currently deactivated.

“net user administrator /active:yes”
“net user administrator /active:no”

When activated, you can see a Local Administrator account under Accounts.
Perhaps this is what “other people” means.

If this circumstance leads to the context error, Norton still has to look for a solution. Other programs do not show this error!!!

Unfortunately, this morning it started again with Autofix Sonar, behavior-based protection and no submenus in N360. After four days without the other error messages, I thought I was safe. I’ve been struggling with the error since mid-February, and many of my fellow campaigners have probably given up.

Today I tried to install N360 several times again. But errors kept cropping up, no matter what I did.

And suddenly I had a different Norton on my PC, version 24. I probably used the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool too often, as it always generates an error report to Norton. I’m now supposed to be a “selected” user who can use the latest version of N360. But I uninstalled it again, that was somehow too quick for me.

I’m not sure whether I should install it in the future. Maybe it’s Norton’s attempt to provide people with a stable version of their product with Windows 11. I need to read up on it properly first.

has you tryet to reinstall it ore repiar it remember if you reinstall remember to delete all and dont save anything

Hello community,

only version 22.23.10.10 from mid-February 2024 ran error-free on my Windows 11 PC. Since then, I have tried all possible ways to eliminate the error(s). At times, Norton support even got involved. Unfortunately, I never received any feedback as to whether the error recordings were useful in any way.

When I last used the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool, I was offered version 24, which I installed today.

The common errors have apparently been eliminated:

  • Sonar autofix
  • Behavior-based protection message
  • Alarm not working when behavior-based protection is switched off
  • No context menu in the taskbar and start menu programs
  • N360 could not be started at times (version: 22.24.5.6)

Unfortunately, the display in my account is not yet correct

Thanks “bjm” for your feedback.

I have just moved my post to the right section.

Perhaps you can move your answer there too?

This topic can be closed from my side. :sunglasses:

The last time I used the Norton removal and reinstallation tool, I was offered version 24, which I installed on September 10, 2024.
The issues have been resolved with the new version
