Norton 360 Renewal

My subscription to Norton 360 3PC expires shortly (couple of weeks time). I was about to renew online when I saw the excessive price Symantec were quoting (nearly £70). I am not on auto-renewal. I'm now looking at possible cheaper alternatives, but staying with Norton.

I curently have Norton  360 because it came with the package when I got my laptop. Actually, Norton Internet Security 3PC would  be sufficient, and I think I can still buy the 2014 version 'out of the box' from Smiths at £24.99. Presumably I would need to uninstall 360 before installing NIS - I see there is an 'uninstall' program in the Norton folder - do I just use this, or use it before/after invoking the Windows 'remove' function?

Another alternative would appear to be to download/get a box for the 360 Multi-device product. It seems unclear whether Norton are still offering downloads for the 3 device version (to new customers)  at £29.99 or not. I certainly don't need the extra facilities, and I wouldn't be entirely happy about the unnecessary complexity.

Or does anyone know where you can get a boxed version of the non-multi 3PC 360 product at a decent price? Then (I think) all I'd have to do would be enter the new key into my existing product?

Hi ,

I am replyin as you are concerned about the renewal.

You would have got an email with this order number  that will have the renewal code on it.

Renewal code will be 19 digits alpha numeric.

You can see that below  the name of your norton in the email.

Once you find the renewal code.

Follow the steps one by one :

  >> Open the Norton on you computer.

  >>  At the bottom it will show as 0 days remaining and you will ba having the renew button at the botton.

  >>  Please click on that it will be having the box to type in your renewal code.

  >>  Just copy and paste the renewal code or type in the renewal code as it is there in the your email and click on the small arrow mark next to that.

  >>   Your Norton will be activated.

 ALTERNATE METHOD :

 >>  Open the Norton on your computer.

 >>  At the right top corner of the Norton, you can see the option that says " Help & support " or " support "

 >>  Please click on that and the click on Subscription stauts.

 >>  It will automatically connect with the Symantec server and it will activate the norton on your computer.

 >> Then you can click on Done and you can see that your Norton is activated.

For any clarification revert me back.

My account says my Norton 360 expires on September 1st. I have a new subscription already. Can I install it on September 1st or should I install it on Augusr 31 in order to get maximym renewal days on new subscription?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm just going to update on the 31st.

Is your "new subscription" a new copy from which you will use the KEY or have you actually renewed online with Norton? If the latter then you subscription is already renewed and the days are added, unlike when you use a new KEY.

Personally I'd do it a couple of days early in order to allow time for resolving any problems ..... you know computers sense when they should strike back <g>

Does Symantec offer a better or cheaper price or does it stay the same when the subscription expires?

You will find many threads here about pricing.

In general, you will find lower pricing from online or physical retailers. Norton cannot compete on price with their partners or they would not have any partners. Just be aware that you need to choose a reputable online retailer. There are many scams out there selling expired keys, and you will have no recourse from Norton.

You can make your purchase from your preferred retailer, then use the key to renew your product.

Just be aware that if you use this method, you will lose any remaining subscription days on your account. So just enter this key when you have a day or two remaining to maximise  your subscription. Do not let it expire, or you might have to reinstall the product.

Thanks a lot Hugh. Well, I believe I bought Norton 360 V6 , at least thats what the box says but my Canadian Version is already updated to Version 20.2.0.19( still 44 days until this version expieres) but I,m thinking anyway it's better to delete the Canadian version first and start from there or what you think? Please let me know what's best. Mike

Mike,

First question would be are you happy with the V20 that you are updated to? Does the change in the Identity Safe bother you and if you used it before that upgrade to V20 did the upgraded version retain it?

If you are now on V20 and use and want to retain the local vault where the data is also stored on your PC then there is a special procedure you have to follow to get back from V20 to V6 (=2012) in order to save the V20 Identity Safe data in a form compatible with the earlier version of N 360 since there was a major change in the format.

This can be done but I'm not experienced in it so if you confirm this point I'll ask one of the N360 experienced gurus to jump in on this rather than mess you up.

Again just to make asssurance doubly sure .... do you want to uses the GUI etc of the Swiss version (is it multilingual or what) ? If you do not then the KEY for the copy you bought will activate the Canadian installation (Is that French as a matter of interest) if you use it a couple of days before the subscription expires; don't do it in advance since it wipes out unexpired days unlike a Renewal which adds to them.

So will you clarify these two points before doing anything.

Hi.... I brought my Laptop in Canada, and always had Norton 360 on it. Recently I moved to Switzerland. Now my question:I bought here Norton 360 Swiss Edition. Can I just put the key from this version in my Canadian version the way I always did that before or do I have to delete my Canadian Edition in order to install the Swiss one???

So basically you're saying that Norton will honor our renewal even if we didn't buy from their site directly? I've noticed this too, and also the fact that even within the Norton site, we're not being given the best rates for products. That sort of sucks. It's as if they're hoping we'll be lazy and buy from Norton at more cost to us, instead of shopping around. Sort of a crappy way to treat customers dont you think.

Just noticed that Norton is notifying me  it's time to renew my Norton 360. Also notice they want to charge me (approx) 65% MORE than last year. ($29 for 3 computers last year - NOW they want $49.00!)  I'd like to hear THEIR reaction if one of THEIR vendors told them they were implementing a 65% price increase! I'd also like to hear their justification in that 65% increase! Think I'll start shopping! I think it's gonna be goodbye 360! Too bad - I've had their product since2009 too.

If you buy a product to use the key -- which is perfectly OK with Norton -- you don't actually renew what you have installed but replace the subscription with a new one for the new period (say 366 days) that do not get added on to any unexpired time you may have. This would apply even if you buy a new copy from Norton itself. Although in both cases we hear that Norton OnLine Support will usually add the lost time back in.

But this is a concession so it's best to avoid this by delaying using the KEY until a couple of days before your present subscription expires.

If you do buy especially with Norton 360 make sure you get the same version -- Standard, Premier etc -- as you have now since the keys are not interchangeable.

Please realize that prices levels change in the market place every year and a quick check on Amazon shows that the Norton price you quote is lower than Amazon's $52 ..... But shop around and make sure you buy from a reputable third source since alas there are a lot of scams around and don't buy a key on its own. It's not licit and you may end up with a used one.....

On the general question of prices Norton cannot undercut its authorized distributors which is why you see variatons out in the market place some of which are loss-leaders.

BTW Keys are not year/version specific, only product, so you can buy that 2013 Norton 360 even if you have or want to use it on the current 2014/V21 now or later.

I understand the part about Norton not wanting to under-price their distributors. But I bought this Norton 360 FROM Norton a year ago for $29.00. I just can't see their justification in a 65% price increase! Thanx for your reply - lot of good info!

My Norton 360 Ver 20.4.0.40  3-PC license is coming up for renewal in a couple of weeks.  I recall reading about some scammers at eBay that offer discounted 360 products.

I see this seller that's offering 360 3-PC license with multiple listings for $24.99 .

Can anyone provide feedback here about their experiences with this seller?

The eBay link --> Norton 360 3-PC eBay Item

I noticed that the 360 eBay items are Norton 360 2013 version.  I looked in my 360 Console but I don't see a "year" version in the console.  I bought mine in Dec '12 from the Norton online store.

I checked at Amazon and see a download price of $31.26 .  As a long-time Amazon user, that route may be a little safer than the eBay sellers.

For me the prices of everything went up since last year!

Certainly even on Amazon, Norton Internet Security was about $19 last year but now $26

Hi, silverman.Welcome to the forums.

If you wait until a day or so before the subscription expires, the best way is to click on Renew on the UI, and select *I have a key or code to enter.*

I believe you can just enter your key, and you can update your current version subscription keeping your settings, without having to reinstall the multi device version, as it's the same product.

Run Live Update, until advised no more are found.

The single key code lets you activate protection for your other devices.

I would checkout with SUPPORT/CHAT that the PRODUCT KEY for N360 MULTI is compatible with N360 (regular).

You don't want to be involved in a RUNAROUND at the last moment.
