bonjour c'est jean michel arfi
Bonjour,
Merci
bonsoir,
pas de souci , bon surf au plaisir
It won’t let me check or uncheck anything. If I unintall and reinstall the software you suggested, will I have to pay extra? Is installing this update you mentioned easy to do, because if I can’t install it then I will have no Norton anymore? When I updatde Nortonfrom my Norton it did it automatically, surely I don’t have to go purchase another version of Norton now if I have already paid for mine? Why can’t I get hold of Norton (a person, not machine or FAQ), via their website?
Hi Deidre
I'm sorry I can't help with the technical stuff, but if you can put down what operating system you are using ie XP or vista, what Service pack 3 etc.And any other virus security, it helps the guys/gals to help you.And it may take some time for them to get back to you even on these forums but when they do its great help.
I can't get the solution to my problems anywhere on the Symantec Norton 360 website or from their customer support, because none of their web features for contacting them are working.
My Norton 360 is also not working properly (or it is and I can't get help through the normal channels).
Norton wants me to backup, but when I say yes then it tells me there is a backup problem, make sure the destination drive or device is connected and retry. As far as I am aware all my destination drives and devices are intact and connected, I'm not sure why it is telling me this.
Furthermore, when I try to uncheck certain files, ect which I don't need Norton to backup, it refuses to uncheck. In fact Norton is not behaving properly generally and I need to find out why, but none of the FAQ address my issue and I can't contact Symantec Norton 360, because neither their "contact us" or "live chats" or "speak to a technical representative" actually work. It's like it's all duds?
The customer support directly from my Norton 360 is also faulty. In fact everything is faulty. I need a human to speak to via e-mail or live chat or somehow and I can't even get that right. What do I do?
Thanks Mo,
I'm using Internet Explorer XP Home Edition and Norton 360, and I have set my Windows secirity on high. I have unchecked the phishing filter in my advanced setting of IE because Norton said I can't use both (that one and Norton's). I have no other security feature on my PC that I am aware of.

So, if you have the setup media* (CD or a downloaded setup exe) you can anytime install/reinstall it.
To do a really clean reinstall you have to use the Norton Removal Tool (i linked it for you in my previous post).
First download it.
Than save your Identity Safe data in the Identity Safe settings dialog to a file
After the uninstall of 360 run the removal tool, and it will delete the remaining "trash" (files, registry keys) from your PC
Now install 360 with your serial.
After setting (like backing up Identity Safe setting) everything good for you run Live Update and it will download all the latest virusdefs and the latest product update (360 v2.5) too.
If you done this please check if the error is still there (but I think it should be gone).
* If you didn't found any of them, just download the trial setup from the symantec site
Thank you PapauZ
Hello Deirdre,
Have you tried calling or having technicall support call you ? https://www.suth.com/symantec/CreateOnlineTicket.asp
Tim, you are an absolute star!!! That is the page on the site I was looking for but could not find originally!
I appreciate your help so much,
Dee
Hi!
Is there something similar for UK 'customers'? I am currently having major problems with Symantec contacting me to resolve a problem with my 360.
They are now obviously ignoring my daily emails!
Does anyone have any advice please?
Thank you!

Thanks,
I'll give that a try but not holding my breath!

As you will have seen that list did not include United Kingdom and if you used the link it certainly is confusing since it gives an Arabic number for the UK!
However (0)20 7616 5600 may be the UK English number but that is not a freephone number, is it?
Hi,
No I think it's a London number and as such its not free phone. Looking at loads of stuff online it appears that symantec are next to useless for customer support and I don't fancy spending hrs on the phone with no luck as i've already bought the chuffing product and its been wiped off after following their directions! Grrrrr
(I'm not from London by the way!)
Littlejohn
If you bought it in the last 60 daysa Symantec have a 60 day warranty under which you can return it for a full refund. I'm not sure how it works in the UK but it's worth checking out especially if you want to switch to NIs 2009 which is radically different.
This warranty applies even if you bought it in stores and if they hesitate then Symantec will deal with it.
Nottinghamshire, no doubt ... ? <s>

Are you suggesting his best mate is Robin Hood???And yes NIS2009 is easier than N360.
Thanks folks,
Unfortunately its about 6 months old so I may just bin it and go for Mcafee which is on offer at the mo.
Good guess but he is buried in a small village in Derbyshire!
