Norton Autofix

I had same or similar problem to this.

After much head scratching I found that somehow the Windows Firewall had switched itself on, so Norton had switched off Smart Firewall and would not switch on. ( Two Firewalls On always cause problems.)

I could toggle it to ON, but running Fix turned it off again.

After manualy switching off the Windows Firewall, and switching on the Norton Smart Firewall again  and rebooting, the problem seemed to go away.

Don't know if this could help.

In addition to my last post, I also found the the Email Antivirus Scan had switched off in Message Protection settings.

AutoFix failed on this also, so I also had to switch this on manually.

Both these problems occurred at the same time, possibly after an update.

There was a 'red cross' on the norton icon in taskbar.

Rebooting PC didn't do any good but of course, a reload of Norton should have fixed it.

Could the Windows Firewall have been switched during an update ?

I have the exact same issue as PinguJohn's thread, to a tee. With NIS 19......Thanks, Gorpy1

Hi all,

Same issue here as GORPY1 on my XP pc and version 21.1.0.18.

To be honest, I do not pay attention at all as I know that NIS works and my system too !

If this issue is 2+ years old I doubt that it will be fixed, but at least the engineers should provide a dialogue box including what was fixed so the user is aware of the potential problem and the solution applied if a problem was found.

Regards,

I have restarted the PC a couple of times , Tried scan disk and a couple of other ways troubleshooting the problem

Have you tried restarting?
