Norton ConnectSafe

I’ve set Norton Connect Safe on my Windows 7 following these instructions:

https://dns.norton.com/configurePC.html

I found that step 7.  now reading “Click OK and exit all the windows” should say to tick “Confirm settings”  (or something like that,  my system is not in English) before clicking OK.

I first followed the instructions as they are now (i.e. I didn’t check "Confirm settings"), clicked OK and exited all the windows.

I then went back to the last window, re. point 6. of the instructions, and found the Norton DNS were not there anymore and settings had returned as they were before the change. So I set them again and  before clicking OK and exit all the windows I clicked “Confirm settings”, and this time they have not been removed.

PS The page also contains instructions for Windows XP and Vista. I don’t know if the above would apply for them as well

When using DNS 192.153.192.40, it works great except it seems to be blocking my Roku video streaming player.  Is there a way to allow it?

Welcome,

Are you running Norton DNS on your computer or your router?

Thanks

Running on my router.

Hi,

If yours is like mine you can configure exceptions and allow specific sites to be allowed past the Norton DNS barrier.

Hope this helps

dcarpenter22,

Can you please add the Norton IP addresses to PCs to see if it helps?

Thanks,

Katie

Bonjour,

L'information se trouve sur ce lien: Fin de vie de ConnectSafe

Bonne continuation,

Gwen, admin

Glad you finally got it sorted out.

You posted that the ConnectSafe settings were not in the router, so my guess is that the flushdns did the trick.

I really appreciate your attempt to help me, I got into the router settings, I removed my IP and DNS gave the command IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS, I reset the modem and reconfigured the IP and DNS and now norton is not bothering me anymore.
I do not know in which part of these steps this was fixed more was some of them.
Thx for the Help Peterweb.

Until you can determine exactly what router you are connected to when you see these warnings, we cannot help you. If you have not set up ConnectSafe on your computer, the only way to be getting these warnings is from a router you are connected to that is setup with ConnectSafe.

Do you have any Norton Security products on your system?

Maybe time for you to contact Norton Support and let them look at your system to see if there is something we are missing here.   www.norton.com/contactcs

BTW

The Safe Web report (that is used by ConnectSafe) for the site you list in your last post shows 9 instances of malware in the Details page.

Now this **** ConnectSafe is blocking even Sites that i use for STUDIES, *** IS WRONG WITH THIS **** NORTON, This **** called Norton is the worst Virus i ever seen, how can someone pay for this.

Can you check the other router to see if ConnectSafe is set up there? Your system could be getting connected to that router. Check your wifi connections when you get the ConnectSafe block.

There is another router in my house, but this only gives a WiFi to the First floor, theres no Device (Except Smartphones) connected in this router.
And the ConnectSafe Only blocks the sites after a first acess, it's like if i open a XxX site, in the first time i will can acess, but after i reload the page or close it will block all the sites.

If you do not want OpenDNS or the Norton ConnectSafe, just keep the ISP DNS settings.

Is this the router that you are connecting to when you see the ConnectSafe blocks? Because if your computer is not set to the ConnectSafe settings, and the router is not set to ConnectSafe settings, you should not be seeing any ConnectSafe blocks.

It sounds like your computer is connecting to another network that has ConnectSafe set up.

But i don't want the OpenDNS or Norton in my computer, i just want distance from these, But if i change this DNS in the image will  fix this Norton sh*t in my computer?

Camargo:

So this is the DNS in my Router site, but i think it's from my own Internet service, Is this the problem?
And with changes Username and Password, in what this would help?

That is the problem.  The only things you need to change are the two DNS IP addresses.  Change them to the OpenDNS addresses shown in the screenshot I posted earlier and click "Save" (if there is a "Save" button on the router configuration page), and you will be done.

Capturar.PNGSo this is the DNS in my Router site, but i think it's from my own Internet service, Is this the problem?

Is this your router, or are you using one that someone else owns/controls? It it is someone elses, they may have set up ConnectSafe to help protect themselves from any possible legal liability.

If it is your router, you need to log into the router using the instructions from your router manufacturer. You can look up these instructions on the manufacturer's web site. You need to ensure you change the default username and password, so only you can access the settings pages. Then you need to look for the DNS settings in the router. Set up whatever provider's settings you want.

This Keeps happening with me, what you say with Change my Router Configuration?

It looks like ConnectSafe may be set up in the router as peterweb suggested.  Easiest fix would be to override that by changing the settings in your computer for OpenDNS, exactly as shown below.  PC DNS settings take priority over router settings.  Or you could go into your router configuration settings and change the IP addresses there from ConnectSafe to OpenDNS.

This is how is set my DNS and Ip, and a random Site that the Norton ConnectSafe Appears to block ( http://54.200.80.90/?nxdomain=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xvideos.com%2F&msgID1=116528&AddInType=2&PlatformInfo=DNSA&Version=3.0.5&blockedDomain= )
