I just installed Norton on my newly purchased laptop and not only don't have the Norton Icon on my desktop and bottom right icon, I can't seem to find a way to do a quick scan or a live scan. Why? Why didn't I get the icon on my desktop?
Naki:This what's baffling. The second link indicates I am using 3 devices under Norton 360
Norton™ 360 Deluxe
3 OF 5 LICENSE(S) USED:
This is what I see, the above
I'm really frustrated here. My local best buy is selling it this week for $25, the LifeLock 360 Deluxe for 5 device. I think I'll just go get that and use a different email account and install this. I'm really giving up here.
All you have to do is click on the Download link from this post you made above. If you did manage to install 360 and had signed into your Norton Account from there, it would account for the 3 licenses used. Reinstalling on the same computer will not increase the number of licenses used.
Just be sure you restart your computer after the reinstall.
Did that.
Or the Norton 360 Standard, $25, Ill get that one

You need to uninstall the Norton Security Protection and then restart your computer.
Next, sign into your Norton Account at https://my.norton.com and click on the user icon at the top right of the screen, and then click on Manage My Subscriptions. Find your current 360 subscription and click on the Download link, then follow the directions to download on this device. That should download and install your 360 product.
Remove & Restart

and use your Norton 360 subscription.

The link you just provided shows the icon to Norton Security Protection, not Norton 360 that I have in the other 2 laptops. I have the 5-device subscription. I have no idea why this is happening - it seems I am not allowed or it is not installing 360 for some reason
Why?

Ok there is some problem. What appears to get installed is Norton Security Protection.
This what appears every time I attempt to install:
Norton Security Protection
NortonLifeLock Inc.
In-App Purchases
It's telling me if I want to upgrade to Norton 360 I have to pay. In the meantime, it says if I have a subscription to add the product key, for example. Upon doing so, it just installed Norton Security Protection, not Norton 360
Should I just buy another subscription and sign up a different email?
Naki:
I actually did uninstall it yesterday and reinstalled.
Did you Restart (not Shut down) machine and check Windows Updates? Repeat?
Did you turn off Windows Fast Startup?
New machine may need a few days to settle in.
No harm running with Microsoft Defender a few days. IMO
Maybe, try Advanced Options -> Remove Only and pull fresh download from your Norton account.
Uninstall your Norton device security product on Windows

I'll work on this tomorrow. It says I have Win 11, and I truly believe there were no security trials of any software. I actually did uninstall it yesterday and reinstalled. I'll try once more. I really don't have any programs yet, except for MS office that seems pre installed on it.
Download and install your Norton device security

Please properly remove any pre-installed security trialware before installing Norton?
Please update your Windows 10/11? and run the machine for a few days.
Please Restart (not Shut down) machine for a few days.
Please turn off Windows Fast Startup.
I wish I knew how to screen shot!
I don't see any of that.
I dont have a start menu. I have a 4-box image in the bottom middle and when i click on it, it shows 'pinned' and 'all apps'
Under my norton, I click the spiral setting button in the semi-middle, I see: "About, General, Device Settings, Secure VPN" and can't click on any of that. No launch anything...I just want to delete this now!!
Naki:
It seems I do not have a 'launch view!!"
Naki:
Why didn't I get the icon on my desktop?
You do not find Norton 360 desktop shortcut?
You do not find Norton 360 tray icon?
Do you find Start Menu -> Norton 360?
Naki:
In "device security" on the right, I click open and it just shows my internet connection.

I can't get to this:
Note:
Settings from tray icon opens My Norton Settings
Settings from Classic view opens Norton 360 Settings
Open My Norton for My Norton window
Open Norton 360 for Classic view
I appreciate your help.
