About an hour ago I tried to sign into AOL Mail and Norton tells me 'Malicious Web Site Blocked'! It then gives the web address of AOL Mail. Then says "This is a known malicious website. It is recommended that you do NOT visit this site. The detailed report explains the risk... etc." I click on detailed report and it just shows 4 threats of SCAM Website.
I ran Norton update and quick virus scan and then restarted the PC. Still shows AOL Mail as malicious!
There is an option to Continue to Site Anyway but I am reluctant to do this. I wonder if they've been hacked. I only have an AOL email account so can't get free support. No idea what to try next!
I'm using IE 10 & it coming up with this. Have also tried switching off PC & back on again. Is anyone able to logon to AOL mail without gettin this block?
I normally use IE but have found the same error message coming up, and aol mail looks kinda different.however, i have been able to log in on what is clearly the right sight using firefox.
I am using Firefox. Went to AOL home page and was able to access mail. Did a test sending mail from another mail site to AOL mail and now appears to be OK. Hope it was just a false positive.
The fact it's happened to a few of us suggests the problem is not ours and ought to be resolved, whether by Norton, AOL or Googlle Chrome, which is kinda comforting!
As of now, Chrome still telling me Malicious Site, also IE, but Mozilla still lets me in! Maybe we just have to be patient.
Does anyone from Norton support read these messages or are they going off into thin air?
I wonder if the problem is fixed now. I was trying to get in through IE when I had the problem initially. When I read the other postings, I went back and tried to access AOL mail through Google and Firefox. Both worked. By the time I got back to IE, it was working too. I see lots of people were having this issue, so I wonder if Norton was scrambling to fix it. Is anyone else still having problems?
The only way I was able to get on AOL mail through IE at first was to go on Settings in my Norton Dashboard and uncheck safe surfing.
Looks like someone used the AOL webmail / webspace on the server(s) for bad and as a result the whole "hxxp://mail.aol.com" address is blocked to some degree.
I remember this happened to Woosh some time ago with webmail as someone has used their account on the server for bad, so Norton blocked the woosh webmail.
Whoops! spoke too soon. Block is back on Internet Explorer. Get busy Norton. You are going to lose customers. I have used Norton and AOL both for the same amount of time. But I can't lose my email access. Who knows what else Norton will block from me next?
Let's hope they get their digits out and start to solve this problem. i can still get in on Mozilla. I only use AOL Mail (more fool me) so can't access any other mail system.
It's strange I can get in on Mozilla Firefox but nothing else. Wonder why that is?
As the rest of you I cannot access my aol mail, however, the first time I tried I got the Malicious message but the address was not aol but rather yahoo.com.(I use Yahoo as my homepage) although I had clicked on my aol link. I exited the page and tried again and then got the same aol message as the rest of you. Norton doesn't seem to be saying anything, unless I have missed it.
I am having the same problem. In the meantime a work around I found to access my aol mail, is to go to the main aol page first, click on the email icon then sign in to your mail box. If i try to sign in directly from a saved favorite I get the blocked message.
After trying several times over a few hours, I was finally able to get in by using Chrome. Not sure if the problem is with IE. I was able to log into Facebook, posted there that Norton is blocking AOL mail.
